Epilogue
Mandy Nash
I gazed around myself in wonder, feeling an uncontrollable smile inch its way up my face.
Turquoise waters gleamed nearby, gently lapping against a pure-white shore. I could feel the sand beneath my toes as I walked, its hot grains caressing the soles of my feet. A brilliant orange sun shone brightly overhead, its welcoming beams beating warmly down against my face.
I ran a hand through my hair, letting it ripple out behind me, its auburn locks framing my face perfectly and adding a nice compliment to the hot pink bikini top I was wearing with a pair of dark-wash blue jean short shorts. Giant square sunglasses covered my eyes and provided relief from the sun, casting everything around me into a shadowed tint.
Turning my head to the right, I could see Justin walking right alongside me. He was shirtless, his tanned abs outlined in the sun. He, too, was wearing sunglasses, although his were black Ray-bans. A content expression graced his features, and his pink lips formed the merest shadow of a smile.
Our hands were clasped together, swinging back and forth the merest bit as we made our way down the long and seemingly endless stretch of beach.
It was officially the first week of Christmas break, and, as a Christmas present to me, Ryan, Becca, Chaz, and Natasha, Justin had surprised us all with a trip to the Atlantis Resort down on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
Or...as I’d once told Greg as we circled a neighborhood pond on our first date...
My dream destination.
I’d practically peed my pants when Justin had told me where we’d be going, and I’d instantly jumped on him and nearly knocked him over.
He’d been surprised by my sudden reaction, but after the initial shock had worn off, he’d found it amusing more than anything, and proceeded to make fun of me at every opportunity possible.
It didn’t really bother me.
I was too excited to let anything ruin my fun.
As if sensing my gaze, Justin turned his head to the left to look a me, a grin arcing up his features and producing an ecstatic glow in his eyes.
“This is amazing,” I murmured, smiling back. “Seriously. I never imagined I’d find myself here. Ever.”
He gave a small chuckle, shrugging arrogantly. “Hey, we had to find a way to have a little fun over break.” He shot me a cheeky grin.
I laughed, nodding my head. “True.”
“And,” He continued. “It’s the perfect way to celebrate.” He grinned at me knowingly, an entertained glint twinkling from his eyes.
