Chapter 5: Making Juvia Mad

"So, what makes Juvia mad?" Mira asked Loke and I as we sat down at the bar. She had a pen and paper out to write down our ideas.

"Well..uh..when Lucy flirts with Gray!" Loke answered as Mira and I simultaneously face palmed.

"That only works if she loves me!" I replied.

"Hey! I don't flirt with Gray!" Lucy said in horror as we all laughed. She walked away in frustration.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Loke remarked, looking embarrassed.

"Okay, any other suggestions?" Mira asked, tapping her pen on the counter.

"Well..she always used to get mad at me when I said her magic was gloomy!" I answered. All of a sudden, Mira got really excited.

"That's it!" She replied as she wrote down the idea in her notebook. "Look! There she is! GO!" Mira said as she pushed me towards Juvia who had just walked through the door.

"Hey, uh, Juvia." I said, nervously scratching the back of my neck.

"Oh, hey! What's up?" She asked, smiling.

"Uh, your magic sucks!" I answered, instantly regretting what I said.

"Eh?" She replied, looking shocked.

"Well, it's so, so gloomy. Also, it's really cold and sad and w-." I said, expecting a slap. But all I felt was..rain? There was a dark cloud that had appeared above us. A tear ran down Juvia's cheek, she put her hands up to her face.

"H-how could you!?" She yelled as she ran out of the guild. All eyes were on me.

"What the heck were you thinking, Ice-for-brains!?" Natsu yelled in anger. "You made her cry! If that's your way of flirting, you've got it all wrong!" He added as he gritted his teeth and walked off, Lucy following closely behind. I timidly walked back to the bar and slammed my head down on it.

"Well, that didn't go the way I hoped.." Mira exclaimed as she stood awkwardly behind the bar. I put my head on my hand.

"Now, what am I going to do!?" I asked, feeling hopeless.

"We keep going! My plan WILL work." Mira answered, looking determined. "Keep commenting on how 'weak' she is! I'm sure that will do the trick!" Mira added with a compassionate smile.

"I don't know..."

"Trust me Gray! This will work! I'm sure of it!" Mira reassured.

"Fine. But one more scene like this and I'm done!" I said as I got up to leave. "I'm going for a walk."

I can't believe I did that. I'm such an idiot! I'm not good at this! But Mira is and if she says that this is what I have to do, I'll do it! I stopped when I saw the spot where Juvia was sitting this morning. I imagined her sitting there, hair blowing, eyes bright and smiling at me. Saying that everything is alright.

"Oh, it's you." I heard a masculine voice from behind me say. Lyon.

"Lyon, what are you doing here?" I asked in an annoyed tone.

"I'm here to woo my beloved Juvia!" He answered while looking off into the distance as if to fantasize about her. I gritted my teeth. "She told me about what you did." He added with a smirk.

"Yeah?" I asked angrily. Why would she tell him about that!?

"Oh, yeah. She was pretty upset! You should have seen her crying onto my shoulder." He answered with a huge grin.

"S-she was!?" My shocked expression just made Lyon more gleeful.

"Yes, she was. I don't think she can ever forgive you for that, to be honest." He replied. "Okay, look at the time! I've got to go! I'll say hi to Juvia for you, or not. She probably doesn't care what you say. Bye!" He added before walking off. My teeth were still gritted. Juvia can't be into him! Can she?

"What was that all about?" Loke remarked as he came up to me from the direction of the guild.

"Oh, that? That was nothing." I lied in defeat.

"Okay.." Loke exclaimed, looking confused. I looked down and tucked my hands into my pockets. "Let's go back to the guild!" He said as he patted my back.

I smiled. "Yeah, let's go." I replied, feeling a little better.

We walked in the guild hall and everyone was talking about the argument Juvia and I had this afternoon. Mira had a huge accomplished smile. We walked over and sat at the bar to see what was up.

"I did some work while you were gone!" Mira squealed in excitement.

"What did you do!?" I questioned.

"Well..I told Juvia that you thought that her magic was weak and you didn't like her!" She smiled innocently as if not scheming something.

"You did what!?" I said in a shocked tone of voice.

"I helped you! Trust me, have I ever steered you wrong?" She asked.

"No, but this is getting ridiculous! She's going to hate me!" I pleaded to no avail.

"Just stay strong for a few more days and she'll be yours!" Mira replied, comforting me. I couldn't help but doubt her.

"HEY!" I heard a furious voice yell from behind me.

"Oh..h-hey, J-Juvia." I said nervously.

"YOU THINK I'M WEAK!?" She roared in anger.

"Uh.." I paused and looked at Mira who just nodded. I took a deep breath and continued. "Y-yes!" I spit out.

"I'll prove I'm strong! You and I are going to fight! Tomorrow night, you better be ready!" She hissed as she left the guild again. I couldn't help but be really nervous for the fight.

"Yeah! My plan worked!" Mira squealed with enthusiasm.

"I'm going home." I said as I walked out of the guild.
