Chapter 7 - Broken Trust

Meanwhile...in the real world....

I left the Brotherhood in my trusted advisor, Silvia Gates's hands.

No trouble was nigh, which was good.

All Assassins took care of their duties and the Headquarters was still standing.

However, during this time, reports of Templar groups have been increasing slowly. It seemed like the Templars were planning avenging for Master's death.

"Silvia....should we alert Master Miranda?", an Assassin spoke to Silvia.

"Yes...we should...as long as we call her through the Diamond.she will hear us. She has been going for a while now...we need her direction," Silvia answered. The monitor in the building showed Templars approaching the area. "GATHER THE BROTHERHOOD IMMEDIATELY!!!"

--

Meanwhile...

Connor was still gone as my wound has already healed.

I paced around Connor's room, wondering if everything actually happened and Connor was able to work together with Haytham.

I felt mixed feelings. I felt excited and proud if it didn't work out and nervous and disappointed if it did work out.

All I could do, was wait for Connor's return.

Then, the Diamond shined within my bag as I wore my gloves and took it out. Within the Diamond, I found that the Brotherhood were getting for battle.

The Assassin's whistle sounded towards my ears as Silvia, the one I left in charge, was making that sound.

I was surprised. I had to go. I had to go back to my time.

"We should be sharing what we know with Lee, not Washington," Haytham spoke as he followed Connor towards Valley Forge where Washington is supposed to be.

"You seem to think I favor him. But my enemy is a notion, not a nation. It is wrong to compel obedience - whether to the British Crown or the Templar Cross. And I hope in time the Loyalists will see this too, for they are also victims," Connor replied as he stopped walking and talked to Haytham.

"You oppose tyranny. Injustice. These are just symptoms. Their true cause is human weakness. Why do you think I keep on trying to show you the error of your way?"

"You have SAID much, yes. But you have SHOWN me nothing," Connor walked away.

"Then we'll have to remedy that then, won't we..."

Connor and Haytham reached Washington.

"Sir."

Washington noticed Connor's presence and walked towards him as Haytham happened to walk behind Washington, noticing a letter that he was reading before on the table.

"Hello, Connor. What brings you here?", Washington replied.

"The British have recalled their men in Philadelphia. They march for New York."

"Very well. I'll move our forces to Monmouth, if we can route them, we'll have finally turned the tide."

Haytham picked up the letter, "And what is this?"

"Private correspondence!", Washington yelled as he tried to take the letter away, but didn't.

"Of course it is. Would you like to know what it says, Connor? It seems your good friend here has just ordered an attack on your village. Although attack might be putting it mildly.Tell him, Commander."

Washington was silent and then he gathered courage to speak, "We've been receiving reports of allied natives working with the British. I've asked my men to put a stop to it."

"By burning their villages and salting the land. By calling for their extermination, according to this letter," Haytham added.

Connor was surprised.

"Not the first time either," Haytham continued. "Tell him what you did fourteen years ago," he looked at Washington.

"That was another time. The Seven Years War."

"And so now you see what happends to this "great man" when under duress. He makes excuses, displaces blame. Does a great many things, in fact - except take responsibility!"

"ENOUGH!", Connor snapped to stop the two of them from fighting. "Who did what and why must wait. My people come first."

"Then let's be off," Haytham spoke.

"No. You and I are finished."

"Son.."

"Do you think me so soft that by calling me son I might change my mind? How long did you sit on this information? Or am I to believe you discovered it now? My mother's blood may stain another's hands, but Charles Lee is no less a monster, and all he does, he does by your command," Connor shook his head, "Miranda was right."

"Oh right...Miranda...didn't she say that she was supposed to stay by your side until your "mission" is complete," Haytham spoke.

"She became wounded from the time we were in the brewery."

"Heh. I knew it. I knew she was not fit to be by your side."

That comment angered Connor as he grabbed Haytham's collar and pulled him close to his face, "Don't underestimate Miranda." He pushed him back abruptly as Haytham was shocked. "You don't know how strong she is and you don't know how much she has went through."

Haytham was silent.

"She has saved me times before. She is a strong, determined, brave, and courageous woman. She is better than you think and I can never be much happier than to have a great partner such as her."

My words I told Haytham echoed in his ears from before, "You don't understand what Connor and I have been through."

He continued to look at me as he had a look in his eye that wanted to know more information about me and Connor.

I looked at him again, "The bond that he and I have shows how close we are now. He protects me, then I protect him. That's our promise."

Haytham looked down.

Connor pointed to the two men standing before him, "A warning to you both - choose to follow me or oppose me and I will kill you."

He walked away and rose on a horse, making his way towards his village to catch his fellow tribe members from being apart of the British mess.

--

After all the fuss, Connor came back to the Homestead.

He looked around, hoping to find my form either in the kitchen, the living room, or even in the bedroom.

However, I was nowhere to be found.

It's been a while, a certain number of days, since he left.  There was an emergeny back in my time, I had to go immediately.

He was shocked...surprised...

I had vanished.
