Boston was the coolest city I'd ever been to. I loved every minute of being there. It was amazing to see the difference between the east and west coast. Things are just so different.
I started meeting people as soon as I stepped outside. I met a girl who lived next door to me who introduced herself sweetly and we hit it off immediately. Her name is Maya and she's just the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. She showed me around the city, all of her favorite places to shop and explore. There were a few cute markets that I fell in love with and some places I thought would be perfect for sitting down and writing.
After meeting Maya, everything was looking up. I made all kinds of friends at work, the people I was working with were incredibly nice. My favorite was Maya.
After a week of living in Boston, it had become routine. I was able to get myself into a place where I was stable. Everything I did was based around working. I had been successful with avoiding Dylan. I had yet to see him since the incident the other night. Boston was great so far. However it wasn't home. Home was hard to live up to. I had been spending a lot of time with Maya.
She is coming over tonight and we are going to watch movies. She hasn't really had much time away from work, apparently, so I invited her over for some girl time. I also needed to go get my nails done.
It was already almost 7 when she was coming over. She knocked on the door. I answered it cautiously and she busted it open the minute the door was unlatched. She was carrying two bags of chips and a bottle of wine. I was curious as to why she was here so early. We agreed on 8:30. She was here an hour and a half early. This is weird.
"Girl I have so much to talk to you about," She throws the stuff down on the counter and hops up beside it.
"Oh boy, what's up sister," I brace myself for whatever she is about to ramble on about. A smile spreads across her face as she takes a breath inward.
"So basically, there's these people that live next to you and they are the cutest guys you'll ever meet. I've had a massive crush on one of them for the longest time. We see each other when we walk down the halls and we've had a few conversations. His name is Donavyn but he hates his name so he goes by this nick name, Dice or Duke, something like that," She explains.
"This is relevant why?" I ask, curious as to why she's randomly bringing up some guy she has talked to maybe four times total.
"This is relevant because he and his roommate are racing tonight. It's like a big deal, we've had this flirty thing going and he invited me to come tonight. His roommate is cute but he's with this new chick. I guess he just got back to town or something like that," She explains.
"This sounds like a really bad idea," I tell her immediately. I have hardly any idea who this girl is and she's trying to convince me to come watch some race with her, "what even is this race?"
"Drag racing, keep up Raim. So what'd ya say? We can go to the race for a bit and if we get bored we can come home! It'll be fun, trust me," She informs me.
"Fine we can go, but I have to work tomorrow so we're coming back earlier than you'd want to," I tell her with a bit of passive aggressiveness to my tone.
"Yay! Thank you so much. I even brought you an outfit, I think this would look great on you," She says, rushing to her bag. She had everything planned out.
She digs through the bag for a moment before finally finding the outfit. It consists of a pair of jean shorts, a combat boot with a light heel to it, and a black cut off halter top. I insist that I'll freeze if I wear it and she pulls out a white letterman type jacket with red stripes on the end.
