As the full moon creeps ahead, Ashlynn became more and more nervous. Movies and books would show unimaginable pain the wolves would transition through, from bones breaking to nails elongating. The girl paced in her room till the sun rose up once again. Tyler prepared himself for his transition with secret help from Jules. The two cousins had no idea that they both are one in the same, both having the gene triggered in one night. As Amy triggered Ash, Sarah had done the exact same.

Ashlynn had eventually gotten ready for school with her hair pulled back and laced up white converse, along with a green flannel. She hopped down the stairs and slung her bag over her shoulder. A sudden sound of cries made her pause at the base of the steps, looking in the living room to see Tyler watch a tape of her father chained and screaming in utter pain. Ashlynn's eyes began to water seeing how her father was put through so much because of this curse she is now stuck with forever. Tyler turned to see his cousin crying behind him, he immediately slammed the laptop shut.

"Ash! I'm-I'm"

"Why the hell were you watching something as vile as that?" Ashlynn growled.

"It's a lot to explain.." Tyler turned away from her as he balled his fists. His cousin finally came to the realization.

"Oh my god. You're a werewolf too,"

"How do you-Did he tell you anything?" He spun around and asked her.

"Mason told me nothing, but I know I triggered the gene like you and I have no idea what we're dealing with next full moon." Ashlynn wiped her tears away and stared at the closed laptop. Only two more days till their first shift.

"At the masquerade ball? I'm so sorry, you don't deserve this."

"You don't either, cousin" Ashlynn began walking towards the door, but Tyler grabbed her arm before she reached it. "Happy birthday, Ashlynn."

Ashlynn's P.O.V.

School passed by quickly as possible. I just wanted to find Jules and ask her about everything I needed to know before the full moon. I'm scared shitless, like, who knows what pain I will have to endure?

After Mr.Saltzman's class, I passed by my locker and grabbed my Italian notebook. For some reason, an odd yet familiar scent caught my nose. It was a mix of fresh pine and mint I think. A sudden slam of the lockers to my left made me jump till I turned to see who stood by. "Happy birthday, kitten." Greyson smirked and handed over a small box, which I simply ignored and walked away with his eager footsteps following. "Why aren't you talking to me? You still can't be mad about that night, come on, Ashlynn." He begged for my attention. I really did not want him coming to school and bothering me, I have friends here and I definitely do not need them questioning who or what he is.

"Please leave me alone, Greyson. I do not want you near me," I spoke out without looking behind me.

"Ash, babe, please talk to me. I know you wanna believe I'm such a bad guy but-" I immediately cut him off. Who does he think he is? Coming back into my life after putting me through hell?

"No! I know you're a shitty person and an even shittier boyfriend so do me a favor and take your little gift and shove it right up your hairy-"

The bell cut my sentence short. Grey had a smug little look on his face as he handed me his gift, "See you in Italian class."

-

Grey had enrolled in Mystic Falls High School and even worse now seeing as we have literally every class together. I waited patiently for the last bell to ring to signal that the day was finally over, but Caroline Forbes stopped me before I could reach my car. "Excuse me! How rude can you be?" I tilted my head in confusion. "It's your birthday and you didn't tell any of us, I had to squeeze it out of Tyler! What kind of friend would I be if we didn't celebrate?" She told me excitedly. I always hated birthday parties, especially if they were my own. Ever since the whole Elena-&-I-were-totally-taken situation, she started to help Tyler more with the werewolf thing, so she'd spend time over. Let's just say me and her are pretty chummy. "Listen, Care, I'm not the best party person so it's really okay if we not do anything. I'm perfectly fine with a pizza and an 80's movies marathon." Caroline frowned, but I knew she would not take no for an answer. She has told me that we all were to meet at the Grill tonight to celebrate.

I unlocked my door and threw my bag into the passenger side. The gift from Grey tempted me to open, the green paper just urging me rip it to oblivion. I grabbed it and slowly peeled back the paper to reveal a box taped shut. My nails ripped the tape, inside showed a beautiful diamond necklace. It was small and not too flashy, he knew I never was big on jewelry. The cold silver chain wrapped around my neck just right as I clipped it shut. I hate to admit it, but it was kind of perfect.

-

Tyler and I drove to the Grill for my birthday celebration. I changed into a pair of comfortable jeans and a cute light sweater along with my curly hair to go just right. The place wasn't packed luckily. I looked at a table at the far end, there was Stefan, Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie all smiling and laughing waiting for me. I smiled and walked on over, not until I felt an arm wrap around my waist. "You forget to invite me? I'm your fiancé after all, and sweetheart, that necklace looks good on you." Grey looked down at me as I ripped his hand away from my hip. God, the desire to rip his face off was real. Tyler had walked ahead of me and was confused to why I was with a boy unknown to him, I was no way in hell introducing them to each other.

Caroline soon enough invited Greyson to join us and I was not having it, I sat with my arms crossed with a frown the whole night. He said we were dating and squeezed my thigh under the table if I tried to protest, knowing he would do some dumb shit if I went against his word. I stepped outside for a breather while Greyson told stories of our past. The air was cold as I rubbed my arms while walking around the building.

A soft hand went on my mouth preventing me to scream, I struggled but the man was hard to rip off. "Ashlynn, it's me, it's Elijah. If I remove my hand, don't scream or run, you know I can and will catch you." Elijah told me in my ear making the hairs on the back of my neck stand. He slowly moved his hand, making me turn to face him.

"You died." I said.

"The idiot Salvatore thought he killed me, foolish of him to pull a move like that." His eyes bore into mine. I searched for emotion maybe even a hint but there was none.

"I'm not going to Klaus. You can't make me,"

"Who said I was going to do that? I would just like to wish you a happy birthday, from me-" Elijah pulled a box wrapped in gold paper from his back, "and Klaus." I swallowed hard as he handed it to me. "Expect to see me around from now on, Ashlynn. I will not let any harm come to you I promise you. I wish you best." I looked up to look back into his eye, but he was gone.

I tore open the box to see a gold bracelet. There was no denying how beautiful it was. The small diamonds were evenly placed, the gold shimmered in the pale lights. A small note was attached and I read the words carefully.

Happiest of birthdays, Ashlynn. Save a kiss for me.
                           -Fondly yours, Klaus.
