Two Sides To Every Story

As horrible as it sounded, I couldn't go home just yet. I had to go over this case file and I couldn't do that at home - not with all the distractions. The only place other than home that came to mind? The cafe.

Placing an order at the counter with a man I didn't recognise, I sat down at the booth near the window, waiting for it to be ready. Opening my bag, I pulled out the case file, handling it carefully as I skimmed it, picking out the important bits.

Byun Areum was discovered dead upon arrival.

No witnesses were found to be at the scene.

The body was free of DNA and no notable fingerprints were recovered.

Cause of death: Asphyxiation {No foul play suspected}

Updated CoD: Upon further investigation, manual strangulation cannot be ruled out.

I quickly scanned over the information, taking in as much as I could. The fact that Kim Taehyung was being charged with this crime with no witnesses, DNA or fingerprints - said a lot about the evidence that Baekhyun must have gathered. From what I could see, there was video evidence of Byun Areum taken before her death, scripts of text messages and personal statements. They were only listed by number, no copies available within the file I'd received.

I chewed my lip as I tried to figure out my next move. I was going to have to acquire that evidence somehow or at least a summary of it. I looked up wide-eyed as someone placed my coffee down.

"Twice in one day? You're really spoiling me, Y/N

"Twice in one day? You're really spoiling me, Y/N." Hoseok laughed as I shut my file over immediately, holding my cup to warm my hands.

"I'm starting to think you either live here, own the place or just have nothing better to do." I smirked at him as he scratched his neck, laughing nervously.

"And what if I was to say it was a mixture of all three?" I cocked an eyebrow. He gestured to the seat opposite me. "May I?" I nodded, smiling. "My parents own the place. I live above here and work here during the day. In exchange, my parents pay for my studio." I sipped my coffee. He was interesting.

"A studio? What are we talking here? Barista by day, artist by night?" He placed his hand under his chin, resting his head on it playfully.

"I teach dance in the evenings. You're more than welcome to come along." I shook my head frantically as Hoseok's smile grew wider and wider.

"Dance is - uh - me and dance - uh -" I couldn't even find the right words to say, Hoseok's smile became sympathetic.

"The offer is always there -" His voice was cut off by my phone ringing. I eyed the ID, accepting the call and placing the phone to my ear.

"Officer Jeon, how can I help you?" Hoseok just smiled at me as I took the call, Jungkook laughed on the other end.

"How very formal of you, Y/N-ah." Jungkook laughed. "Jimin's brother is free tonight, are you?" Part of me was telling myself that I needed to go home, the other part was overwhelmed with curiosity - wanting to crack this case.
