New Beginnings

Hey guys! Just wanted you all to know that I'm working on this story and that it'll be receiving an update soon ~

I woke up bright and early from a restless night's sleep. I was about to start a new job today and it was causing me severe levels of anxiety. I'd only been back in Korea for a couple of weeks and I was lucky to land such an amazing opportunity.

It was hard to believe that I'd been overseas for the last few years, studying law at a prestigious university. I'd originally hoped to be a lawyer over there, but my mother had taken ill and I had no choice but to return and look for work in Korea. I owed it to her.

Coming back to Korea had been difficult for me - it held far too many memories. Before I'd left, I'd been in a serious relationship that I had almost turned overseas university down for.

If he hadn't ended it, I never would have left Korea. That was just fact.

I dragged myself out of bed, changing into some clothes that I had laid out the previous night to stop myself from stressing. I styled my hair, pulling it back from my face, trying to fight the nerves that were threatening to explode from my stomach.

I hadn't even met my new boss. I'd been interviewed by one of his partners within the company. The only thing that I knew about him was that his name was Min Yoongi and that he was extremely successful. I'd heard nothing but people singing his praises, proclaiming how good he was at his job.

Once I was satisfied with how I looked, I headed downstairs to tend to my mother before I left for work. She was sitting in the chair nearest to the window, looking at the birds outside in wonder. I walked over to her, bending down onto my knees in front of her. Her eyes moved immediately to meet mine, her hands clasping my own.

"Ah Y/N-ah! You look so beautiful." She smiled. "Are you going out with Jungkook again? He's such a lovely young man!" I smiled sadly at her, reassuringly squeezing her hands.

"Not today, Mama. I'm going to work but don't you worry, that lovely nurse you like is coming to help you out while I'm gone." She frowned at me, moving herself forward so that her face was close to mine.

"You are far too young to be working, young lady. You should be out enjoying yourself! Making the most of your time with Jungkook before he leaves." I smiled, knowing that I couldn't win. "You're only young once, don't forget that!"

"Yes, Mama. I'll be back around 5." I kissed her forehead and as I went to pull back, she grabbed my face. Holding it between her hands, she looked over my features.

"You really are beautiful, Y/N-ah." I placed my hands over hers, trying my hardest to keep a smile on my face and not cry. I hardened my resolve as I walked over to the nurse who was standing in the doorway, looking at me with a sympathetic smile on her face. I pulled on my coat, buttoning it up.

"Her medication is on the counter. If the weather holds, let her have a wander around the garden. She likes to look at the birds. Make sure to hold her tight, her balance isn't all that great. My contact number is on the fridge - should anything happen." I informed her as I straightened out the collar of my tailored coat. The nurse bowed her head to me respectfully as I cast one last look to my mother before heading out of the door, walking to the local coffee shop to pick up a drink for the walk to work.

I waited in the queue, looking out of the window. When the doctors had told me about my mother's diagnosis, I'd never thought that it would be this advanced, that she would remember so little or that life would be this difficult. My mother had been diagnosed with a form of Alzheimer's and as far as she was aware, I was still living at home, still at school and still head over heels in love with Jeon Jungkook. Most of the time that is.
