It's been 3 days since Patton's nightmare, and the burning of the toasts incident.

Everyone was feeling great, nothing was wrong, and everything was just perfect. They were all content and there has been no sign of trouble. Keyword, was.

Virgil had discovered that his black box was missing. It was very important to him, and losing it made him panic. He thought he had misplaced it, but after searching every spot he could check, he knew that someone must've took it.

Roman and Thomas are the only ones who know about the box, but after 30 minutes of questioning the two, and searching their rooms, he came to the conclusion that it must be someone else. Logan soon joined the search after he learned that something incredibly important went missing. He even asked Patton to help with deduction.

Even though Logan and Patton didn't really know what they were searching for, they figured it must be important because they witnessed Virgil have a really bad panic attack. Virgil was shaking, and he said he couldn't breathe. Logan asked him if he could tell them more about how he's feeling. He wanted to take down notes so he could help Virgil the next time it happens. Patton was trying to get Virgil to take deep breaths, but it didn't really seem to help that much. Virgil was still breathing rapidly, and had to lean on the wall to keep himself stable.

Logan and Patton promised to help look for the thing Virgil said had gone missing, and even wore their "costumes". But Virgil knew this was just Logan's excuse to play as Sherlock and Patton as Watson again.

After hours of searching and an endless amount of questions from Logan and Patton, Virgil gave up and said they could look for it again tomorrow.

He went back to his room and immediately dived into his bed.

A few seconds later, he sat up and noticed something shining. He became curious and went over to it, only to find a smashed black box with tiny pieces grouped together to form letters.

Virgil fell to his knees. He was too shocked to say anything. He couldn't even move. He started crying, not caring that the others might hear. He just bawled his eyes out, until he felt like he had no more tears left.

Patton heard Virgil's sobs when he passed by his room. He called the other two to go to Virgil's room right away. Roman had to pick the lock since Virgil locked the door. The three ran to Virgil asking him if he was okay and if he needed anything. They didn't seem to take notice at what Virgil was looking at, until Virgil pointed to it. Logan observed it. The box seemed familiar, though he was sure he had never seen it before. It looked as if it could still be fixed though, and that was what Logan would be spending his time on for the rest of the week.

It was unsettling to say the least. It freaked out Roman the most, since it looks as if it came from a horror movie. But he vowed to protect Virgil at all costs, so he asked if it was okay if he stayed in Virgil's room for a few days to keep watch.

But of course, Virgil shook his head no. Roman gave him an understanding nod, and approached Logan who was busy observing the broken object.

"I think I could run some fingerprint tests on this. What do you think, Virge?" Logan asked the boy with bloodshot eyes.

"It's fine with me." Virgil replied.

Patton went to the kitchen to make everyone hot chocolate, Roman ran back to his room to get extra fluffy blankets along with some of Virgil's favourite Disney movies, and Logan placed the small box inside a container (using gloves, of course). He also took some pictures of the word that was spelled on the floor.

Creepy, sure. Terrifying is much more appropriate.

i was supposed to write fluff, but maybe the next chapter instead

update: (you don't have to read this part?? not really important)) there's still 5 more fluff chapters left, 4 "glitch in the system", 9 more chapters, then epilogue. just a heads up, one of those 9 chapters will be quite different ;)
