I had woken up to sunlight streaming through my wide windows. I snuck a look at the clock and had saw that it was 10:42. I inwardly groaned. I was about to sit up until I heard footsteps approaching my door.
I immediately laid back down on my bed and had faked like I was sleep.
"Charlotte," Macy whispered gently while entering the room.
I didn't answer her.
"Char," she said a little more loudly.
I still didn't answer. I didn't even move.
"Charlotte!" she screamed.
I still hadn't answered or moved to show her I was awake. So she decided to yank the covers off of me.
"Five more minutes," I complained while pulling the covers back over me.
"Char, wake up."
"No."
"Charlotte Rebecca Johnson if you do not wake up right now I will pour water all over you."
"You wouldn't dare," I challenged her.
"We both know I would."
"Fine, i'm up.
I walked downstairs behind Macy and had headed into the living room. I turned on the TV and turned to the morning news. Macy and I were always watching the news because their reports are mostly about our neighborhood. Macy and I had been accepted into the same college and are moving to be in a safer area. Too many things happen around here.
The news report was just about over until a last minute recent report of a missing child had came in. Of course since I was so nosy and wanted to know if I knew the person, I decided to listen to it.
"This morning there was a missing child report," the news reporter started. "She goes to Steven John High School." After they named the school, they showed a picture of it. Our school had 4 floors. There is a basement where all the science and health classes are. The first floor where all the band, cooking, and ESOL classes are. The second floor has English, Spanish, French, and German classes. The third floor has History, AVID, government, and a few ESOL classes. Finally, the fourth floor has math, art, and classes for cursive writing. It's a pretty big school and has 4500 students inside.
Oh my god. THEY GO TO OUR SCHOOL! I thought.
"Macy!" I yelled.
"Yeah?" She called back from the kitchen.
"The missing person goes to our high school!"
She had literally ran to where I was when I said that. Macy and I were popular, but she was more popular. She knew everyone and everyone knew her and when someone went missing she had to know.
"The girl is estimated to be about 5'2", has blue eyes and auburn hair. Her reported name is Charlotte Johnson," The news reporter guy continued. "If anyone finds her there is a $5,000 reward from her mother. The contact number if she happens to be seen is 433-224-0319. We all hope that Charlotte is found and returned home safely."
To say we had been shocked was an understatement. We were dumbfounded! I dropped the remote and Macy choked on and had dropped the sandwich she was eating. We both stared at the TV with wide eyes as the news showed a picture of me that was taken a few days ago. When the news was over, I still sat on the couch not moving.
