Caught Between A War

The Truth

Yuya's rage was beyond the roof as he stared at the one who had started the Battle Royal in the first place: Akaba Reiji.

"What do you mean a selection?!"

Yuya shouted with his rage. When the man was quiet it got Yuya even more pissed as he shouted "ANSWER ME!" A sigh escaped from Reiji as he looked at the group in front of him while adjusting his glasses.

"Did you know that the Fusion would be coming her?!"

Yuya continued to interrogate. With a sad glance, you let go of Shun as you went to go place your hand on Yuya's shoulder "Yuya, he won't tell you if you keep shouting." Yuya let out a frustrated breath "sorry" Yuya said to you while giving you a fake smile.

"Yes. I knew."

Akaba Reiji answered at last making Yuya's nerves a bit calmer. Then, Akaba Reiji began to explain his reasoning for changing the finals to a Battle Royal; of course, Yuya had questioned this causing more answer yet more questions to come up. 

"The Pro and Youth Classes were fighting back the Fusion too. They were all defeated except one, that's where I came in and that's why I'm here now!"

Shingo explained surprising the group.

"All of them were defeated?"

Gongenzaka questioned with astonishment. Who would've thought some intruders could defeat elite student who were capable of different summoning styles. 

"And just as I expected, you succeeded in defeating the enemy."

Akaba Reiji spoke with a sense of pride. Shun clenched his hands into fists. When you turned around and saw how he continued to grip his side, you went to his side as you had torn off a long peice of your outfit and wrapped it around Shun's waist.

"You are truly our anti-Academy Duel Warriors! You have shown the power worthy of the title: Lancers!"

You heard Akaba Reiji say to you guys. You wanted to do badly say something rude to his face, but you couldn't let your emotions take control of you.

"SCREW THAT!!"

Yuya shouted with rage. Well, looks like you didn't have to as anything after all. Yuya's eyes held a worried yet cold look at he looked at the man before him.

"To hell with your Lancers! For something as dumb as that, Michio and Teppei were...!"

You knew what he wanted to say, and honestly, you couldn't blame him. I mean, he haf witnessed his friends become carded by the Fusion who had not only attacked the Standard, but as well as the XYZ and maybe somewhere else!

"Everyone that had been carded... Yuzu too!"

As you and the group watch a Yuya rage again, you saw a stream of tears leave his eyes. As you felt saddened, Shun out his hand on your arm, giving it a comforting sqeeuze. You nod your head knowing what Shun would already say. By this point, you were afraid if Akaba Reiji would trigger Yuya even more which would lead to... Yuto.

The memories of Yuto never left your mind. You missed him to the point where everything reminded you of him which made you recall nav to everything you guys did together.

"It's your fault... That everyone was... Yuzu was...!"

"It is not Reiji's fault."

You look to who owned the voice: Serena. Yuya seemed shocked as he looked at the Yuzu look-alike.

"If Yuzu was defeated by the Academy, then the fault is mine."

It may have seen weird, but you seemed to have start trusting this fusion. She wasn't vile and she showed sympathy for those who have fallen. Her personality and reaction to had how cruel the Fusion were also conviced you that she didn't know how the Fusion defeated the dimensions they conquered.

"What do you mean that it was your fault? And before that, who are you?"

Gongenzaka asked with curiosity. Serena looked at the duelist.

"I am Serena. A duelist of the Academy."

This shocked Gongenzaka and Meiru as well as Shingo. You and Shun weren't that surprised since you've seen her use Fusion.

"Academy? Then, you must be the enemy!"

Shingo said as he heightened his guard. Dennis closed one eye as he thought to himself.

'Ah jeez, you want and said it yourself. I was thinking of bringing you bad to the Academy myself, but... Now that doesn't look like it'll be possible.'

"Why is the enemy here with us? And I'm Yuzu Hiragi's outfit as well, you must be a spy!"

Shingo said with insensitivity as he made his way closer to the Fusion female until Tsukikage stood in between them (Tsukikage my child XD). "Get out of the way!" Shingo shouted at the blue ninja. But the ninja nodded his head "this is by the orders of my client" Tsukikage said which seemed to make Shingo angrier "WHO'S YOUR CLIENT?!" When Shingo tried to get pass Tsukikage (but to no success) was interrupted by you.

"Serena isn't a spy."

This surprise everyone, including Shun. He would've never thought about you speaking up for a Fusion. Shingo looked at you "what are you going on about?" he asked as you looked at Serena as you started to explain her situation "Serena is being chased down by the Academy for reasons that only she can tell you" you said. Gongenzaka looked at you "how do you know this?" He question while you let out a sigh. Hey, everyone was going to figure out soon right? You didn't dare hesitate as you told out plainly the answer that others didn't expect including Reiji. Of course, Shun and Yuya weren't surprised and Dennis didn't seem that surprise 'looks like I guessed correctly.' Dennis told himself with a light chuckle. Well, the truth is out. What will everyone's question be?

[TIME SKIP]

Yuya and Reiji had begun their fuel with Yuya pendulum summoning stright off the bat
