I was finally going to college and getting away from my old life. I had worked my butt off in school, why, so I could more specifically get away from my mother.
My mother is a major idiot. She dropped out of school at the age of sixteen and became a stripper. Getting pregnant with me at the age of eighteen, with no recollection of who my father is.
My entire childhood was her dropping me off with random people I didn't know. I grew up around people constantly partying, drinking, or doing drugs. Luckily, that helped me discover exactly what I wanted in life, which was to be nothing like my mother, and never be near those situations again. I graduated as valedictorian and with several scholarships to Florida State, which just happens to be 3680.15 kilometers from my mom in Cali.
"Is this the right building Char," my best friend Emily asked from the drivers seat.
I look up to see 601 Copeland the apartment I'll be sharing with three other roommates.
"Yup this is it, can you believe this is the last time we'll see each other until Thanksgiving break!!" I looked over at my tall, reddish blond friend and tried to fake a smile.
Emily is the only person who knows the truth about my old life. She is two years older than me and we've know each other since I was in fifth grade. She is my only real family and I won't see her for a while since she is all the way in Texas for her last two years of college. For her first two years she went to a community college to stay near me but now she gets to go to her dream school.
I can already feel myself getting anxious and stress-ridden just thinking about it. She can tell I'm close to having a panic attack about being in a new place and not knowing anyone.
"Hey sweetie your gonna be just fine I'm here for the next few days and by then you'll probably be having the time of your life," She gave me a reassuring smile and got out of the car while I took a few deep breaths.
We started unloading her car of the few bags I had, and brought them to the door. I pulled out my key, unlocked the door, and brought my bags into one of the empty rooms. Unfortunately Emily couldn't stay here she had a room booked at a motel nearby. We were just getting ready to say our goodbyes when I started to hear car doors slam and voices.
The door flew open and a group of people came in, laughing hysterically at some joke one of them said. They finally noticed Emily and I because the three girls started squealing.
The three of them ran over to me and started hugging me, "Oh My Gosh it's so good to finally meet you Charlotte!! I'm Lexi by the way!!"Lexi has a short blond bob, blue eyes, model tall and model thin. The complete opposite of my waist length brown hair, emerald green eyes, and my curvy frame. She towers over my 4'11" height, which had us all laughing as she tried to give me a hug.
Blaire introduced herself next, she stood at least 5'4" with long red hair, and blue-green eyes. My last roommate was Nickie who had brown eyes, dirty blond shoulder length hair, and looked to be model tall too. All three of them were sophomores here. I introduced them to Emily and we all started talking, until someone cleared their throat.
"Oh I totally forgot, Char this is my older brother JT, he's a senior here,"I look over to the person Lexi's talking about and I am completely shocked by what I see.
He looks nothing like Lexi, and I'm pretty sure the only trait they share is their eyes. I wasn't even standing close to him and he towered over me. He was about 6'5", his shaggy brown hair is the type that looks like he just woke up with it perfectly in place. Perfectly tanned skin, muscular but not so much that it's grossly bulky. Crystal blue eyes, and two dimples in his cheeks.
He was starring right at me with a smirk on his face like he knew I was checking him out, and he started walking towards me. I was frozen in place by his perfection, and he smiled down at me when he stood in front of me.
He started to talk and his voice was deep and sexy, "It's really nice to meet you Charlotte," he then proceeded to pick me up and hug me. This quickly snapped me back to reality, and I got out of his arms as fast as I could so this situation wouldn't get anymore awkward than it is. He smiled at my reaction then he looked over at his sister and said "Guess now I have a good reason to spend a lot more time over here," he looked back towards me with a flirtatious grin. I was so overwhelmed by how good he smelled that I started stuttering over my words.
"No, JT" Lexi said, grabbed his ear and dragged him to another room. We could hear them whispering in harsh tones but I had no idea what they were talking about. Nickie and Blaire gave each other a look like they knew what was going on, and we all started to feel a little awkward.
"Well, I better get going I'll see you later Char." Emily gave me a big hug and waved goodbye to Nickie and Blaire before walking out the door. The bitch was a coward, I can't believe she left me all alone in this awkward situation.
None of us said anything at first, but then Nickie asked me where I was from, easing some of the tension. The three of us went and sat on the couch and started talking and getting to know each other. Nickie had just asked me if I had a boyfriend when Lexi and JT walked back into the room.
"So what are we talking about here," Lexi asked and sat next to me. Nickie and Blaire looked at each other and got huge grins on their faces, then looked right over at JT. "I just asked Charlotte if she had a boyfriend," Nickie explained, and the three of them started pestering me to answer.
"Okay, okay, okay, jeez I'll answer if you guys will stop," I said and the girls all started smiling. I can tell I like them already and they will probably be a lot of fun. I looked over at JT who was still staring at me and started wondering if he wanted to know too. I looked away quickly, "No, I don't have a boyfriend, never have." I was a little embarrassed by what I just admitted, I basically straight out told them I was a virgin. I looked up at all of them and they all had shocked expressions.
Lexi was the first to talk, " Like never, not one," I shook my head no. "Have you ever had a fling with someone" she asked and again I said no.
Not wanting to answer anymore questions, I quickly changed the subject.
While they were all talking I snuck a peek at JT. He was giving me a strange look that I didn't recognize, maybe it was lust but all I know is that I like the way he is looking at me. I don't know why but I feel safe with JT here and I barley know him. Usually if any guy tries to even talk to me I have a panic attack and will run away. But JT... he's different from the other guys, and yet I get the feeling he could be the worst thing that could happen to me.
