---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapter Three: Honeymoon
Shailene's POV
I watch Lea run straight to the slide, where all the little kids were, with a big grin. That's good she's having fun.
I see an available swing and I swing on it. Theo joins me and takes the empty swing beside me. "Watcha doing?" He asks and I answer with a straight tone, "Watching Lea, what about you?"
"Why do you sound so mad when you talk to me?" I swing faster, "I'm not mad, Theo." He grabs my knee and stops me from swinging, "You're mad."
I roll my eyes, "I'm not mad."
"You sound like you're mad."
"Well I'm not."
"I think you are."
"Well you thought wrong."
"You're mad."
Is this guy seriously trying to piss me off on purpose or what? "For the very last time," I sigh, "I am not mad." Theo chuckles, "I'm just kidding, geez."
"Not funny, Theo." I said sounding like a five year old. "Stop distracting me. I'm supposed to be doing my job and take care of Lea but I'm here fussing with you."
I turn away from him, "I'm just trying to lighten up the mood! All you've been doing since I ever got here is be all pissy. What did I do so wrong for you to be mad at me? I'll do whatever to make it up to you." You left me. You ditched me. You're like all the people I've met. You're the same.
Instead of saying that, I said, "Look, for the very last time, I'm not mad at you. I never was. I'm staying out of your business and you should stay out of mine. I couldn't care less about you or anybody else. I don't care about you, or Lea, or anybody. This is business. So find someone else to trouble because I'm busy."
In the corner of my eyes, Lea was at the very top of the slide. There were so many people with her that she was at the edge. Then her foot slipped and now she was falling from fifteen feet high. "LEA-" I scream and my feet flew from the ground.
I dove right in the bark, my stomach flat on the ground, and just caught Lea in time. She was just as shocked as I was and Lea hugged me tight, "I'm so sorryy... I'm s-sorry.." She said in watery tears.
I hug her back, "You don't need to apologize, Lea.." I tried to sound very soft and reassuring but even I was trembling. "It's not your fault. It was an accident okay? I'm happy that you're okay.."
Without my realization, Theo was hugging us too. "B-But you're not okay.. You're bleeding." I shook my head, "I'm fine! That's nothing!" Even though that was a lie, I can't make her worry. Theo stood up and saw right through me, "If you're really okay then get up."
I put my bravest face and started to stand up. But the pain was unbearable. All I could do was grit my teeth. "Princess, you know how to unlock the car right?" Theo asks Lea and she replies, "Yup! Press the open lock right?"
He laughs, "Good job! Will you do that for me, princess? Our cute babysitter is hurt and we need to treat her together!" I face Theo who was looking down at me with an evil grin. "Don't. Even. Think. About. It. I'm. Fine."
