8. Confession Booth

Normally, when affairs occur, there has to be a catalyst. Some say it's family problems, broken connection with the spouse, or brokenness within. But in most cases, it's lack of sexual experience with the significant other.

This story does not state what the catalyst is, so for now, it is for the reader to decide.

A little boy at the age of thirteen was coming home from school earlier than usual since his last period teacher was sick. He reached his home, and heard unusual sounds coming from his parents' room. Curious as he is, he went to peek into their room through their adjoined closet.

Through the spaces in between, he can see his mom and a man who is not his father on the bed, moaning and grunting. He remained silent and stayed in the closet playing with his baseball bat.

A couple of minutes later, the man of the house has arrived. Little boy can see his mom and the other man panic, and shuffled around the room. His mom shoved the other man into the very same adjoining closet.

"It's dark in here." says the little boy.

"Yeah." replies the mysterious man.

"Buy my baseball bat." little boy demands.

"How much?" asks the man.

"Three hundred dollars." replies the boy.

"What?! Three hundred dollars?! No way." mysterious man shakes his head.

"My dad's just downstairs." retorts the little boy.

"Fine." says the man defeatedly, and hands him three one-hundred-dollar bills.

The next day, little boy comes home early once again, to find himself in the same situation-- in the closet with the mysterious man.

"It's dark in here." says the little boy.

"Yeah." replies the mysterious man.

"Buy my baseball glove." little boy demands.

"How much?" asks the man.

"Seven hundred dollars." replies the boy.

"What?! Seven hundred dollars?! No way." mysterious man shakes his head.

"My dad's just downstairs." retorts the little boy.

"Fine." says the man defeatedly, and hands him seven one-hundred-dollar bills.

Three weeks later, the little boy was playing with his baseball on the front porch when his dad arrived home from work.

"Son! Let's play some ball. Go get your glove and bat." says the father.

"I can't, dad. I sold it to my friend." replies the little boy.

"What? How much did you sell it for?" asks the dad.

"A total of a thousand dollars." replies the son nonchalantly.

"WHAT?! You're not supposed to do that to your friend! Come, let's go to church, and ask repentance for such evil act." says the dad, and drags his son to the confession booth.

Little boy sits there, observing his surroundings.

"It's dark in here." says the little boy.

"Don't start with me again, kid." says the priest.
