Tae Darvid thought he had been over showbusiness.
Tae had once gotten a taste of how difficult it is to run in the entertainment industry. When he was younger, a mere kid at the age of 20, he had quite voluntarily indulged himself in the business, not the bigger projects but rather small assignments here and there - modelling, advertisements, you name it.
He had liked it at first, poured all of his determination in the job to 'advance'. He had sincerely enjoyed his time, but, like what everyone says, you'll eventually get to that point where it's not just all fun anymore, and at a ripen age of 24, Tae concluded that maybe it's time to finally change the course of his life. He had been trying for so long, years to be exact, but it seemed like his efforts will never be enough.
So, Tae Darvid just gave up.
That so-called 'big break' he had been wanting for left in the tremors of abyss.
He had been thankful enough that his management understood his decision and let him go. He was probably never an asset to begin with anyway, maybe that's why it had been so easy for them.
Tae tried to drown himself in other things. Other things which are undoubtedly not anywhere near the torment of fame. Never the wrong time to use what he actually graduated for, Tae tried to venture into management.
He was mistaken. The job was pure hell. Everyday he'd wake up and the idea of resigning was never a foreign thought to him anymore.
The crawling ambition at the back of his mind had been itching for him to continue what he had left vacant for 2 years. He was still thirsty for the rush of knowing he'll have a photoshoot the next day, the adrenaline of having to wake up early to go to set and meet new people. Suprisingly, he missed being 'on the scene'.
He probably was already too late though, 2 years had passed and gone by, but he wanted to go back - back to the job who'd once made him feel contented, happy even, despite turning in at early wee hours of the morning.
He needed something, anything, as his starting point.
It was a lazy afternoom when he first saw the advertisment regarding some production company auditioning young artists for an up and coming boys love series, Tae hadn't taken much of an effort to read the whole of it. He had scrolled past the retweet as he scanned more of his other friends' non-sentimental rants on the socia media platform.
He wasn't appalled by the thought of playing in a BL series, not even one bit. It was more of the reason that he still wasn't ready, he needed a little more time. Years had gone by and he knew he had been rusty. He hadn't been a genuis of an actor in the past, considering he had been more acquainted with modelling than acting, but he had taken quite a few acting lessons here and there. 'You have potential', his instructor once told him. But from the turn-out of things, Tae cannot help but think that his mentor had been wrong.
An unexpected phone call half past 2 o'clock in the afternoon however might just be the push he needed.
Tae had been shocked to see P'Jane's name flashing through his phone in a continuous ring. He hadn't been in contact with the said manager since the time he had opt to leave the company so it came as a shock to see her contacting him after years. It had rang a number of three times before he came back to his senses and answered the call.
"Hello? Tae? Is that you?" P'Jane's voice hasn't changed. It still has that motherly vibe he had been used to hearing.
"Yes, P'"
"It's a relief you still haven't changed your number. I thought i wouldn't be able to contact you"
"What's the matter, P'?" Tae was too curious as to the reason that he had chose to forgo the usual formal greetings.
