Dean's POV

Hoisting my brother's body over my shoulder and carrying him back into our world was absolutely the worst feeling in the world. I was covered in blood, his blood and as I set him down on an old work table, I couldn't help but look at myself and shudder. My sadness, my anger, my guilt, all of my feelings surged through me and I found myself grabbing Lucifer by the collar of his shirt and slamming him against a weathered brick walk,  ignoring the pain from my own wounds.
"What the hell are you doing here, huh?! My brother is dead, why aren't you!" My grip was so tight on his shirt that my knuckles had turned white.
"I don't know why I'm back, but I am Dean and I'm not going to let some emotional worm get in my face about it!" Lucifer said through gritted teeth. He sent me flying, landing on the hard concrete floor, the air was knocked out of me. Cas started at him but didn't get very far before Lucifer had him pinned against a wall. When I tried to get up and couldn't I realized that he was pinning me down as well, I threw my head back against the brick wall if frustration.
"Listen here you son-of-a-bitch I-"
"No you listen! I didn't know if Sammy here, was gonna make it or not but I helped him gank the bitch anyway, you ungreatful maggot! I couldn't predict how things would go down but in the end, I guess, it all works out in my favor....including the fact that watching you squirm is just too fun."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I growled.
"Well if your little brother is dead then I don't need his permission to wear his skin." Lucifer said matter-of-fact-ly. I began to struggle even harder against the invisible force that held me down, Castiel was doing the same.
"Don't you dare touch him!" I warned.
"Lucifer, stop this madness, leave the Winchester's alone." Castiel tried to persuade him, but we both knew he was just enjoying us begging.
"This has been fun, boys, but I really need to get going. I think I'm going to let you two live for now...its amusing to watch you get so close and fall so far." He said with a chuckle.
Soon, a stream of light began to flow from Lucifer's old vessel and into my brother. No matter how hard I screamed, I knew it wasn't going to make a difference. The sense of defeat washed over me as I watched Lucifer's vessel crumble to the ground, tears formed in my eyes as he began to walk around in Sammy's skin.
"Oh it's good to be back! I'll see ya around Deano, Castiel." With that he was gone and the invisible force holding us down left with him.
But I just sat there, putting my head in my hands I let it all out. I didn't stop until I felt Cas's hand on my shoulder. Looking up at him, he had tears running down his face as he kneeled beside me.
"We'll get him back Dean, dead or alive, we'll bring Sam home." Cas said as he squeezed my shoulder. He stood up and offered me a hand, I took it and we set out to kill the Devil once again.

Back to Sam's POV

I was surrounded by a strange darkness. I was lying down but when I sat up there was nothing to my surroundings or the ground that I sat on. It was all just, black, pitch black.
Where am I? What happened? Am I dead?
These thoughts raced through my brain, my head was fuzzy and I couldn't seem to remember everything.
I knew my name and basic things like that, I knew I was a hunter but everything goes blank after Dean and I going on a hunt for vamps.
I did a quick 360 of this place I was in, stopping when I heard faint crying. Looking around again, I noticed a small figure a little ways away. Walking towards it was strange, as I walked my footsteps echoed and it felt as though I was walking on nothing. The closer I got to the figure I realized it was a person, a woman to be exact.
"Hello?" I called out cautiously.
The crying stopped and the woman turned around, obviously startled. The woman looked familiar, she had long dark hair and vibrant green eyes. I could tell by the look on her face that she didn't know if she should trust me or run.
"Hey, my name is Sam. I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to know if you know where we are." I stood a couple feet away from her, my hands up to show her I meant no harm.
She stood up, wrapping her arms around herself, she sniffled.

"My name is Jaylynne, you can call me Jay." She said quietly. She looked as though she were sick, she was pale and thin and her hair was slightly messy.
"Okay, Jay, do you know where we are?" I asked again, trying to stay calm for the both of us.
"No, I don't know how I got here or how long I've been here either."
She shook her head, I stood there thinking of what to do when I noticed her shivering. I took off my flannel and held it out towards her.

"Here, you need it more than I do." I encouraged her, she thanked me as she took it and slipped it on.
"Do you know if anyone else is here?" I asked. She shook her head "no."
"You're the only other person I've seen." She replied quietly.  Suddenly, the sounds of angry growling and crying echoed from somewhere off in the distance. We both jumped, looking around the vast nothingness.
"Common, let's see what we can find." I motioned for her to follow me, I hoped we were headed in the opposite direction of the horrific sounds. She stayed close behind me as we walked, though I knew we had been walking, it felt like we were stuck in place.
"Sam?" Jay's voice called out, small and somewhat scared. Turning around to face her, my heart sank at the sight. Black slime had begun to climb her exposed legs, they appeared like black vines, starting on the tops of her feet and stopping in the middle of her shins and calves.
"Jay-"
"Sam I can't feel my feet." She cut me off with a whimper. We had walked for about an hour and not knowing how long she had been here, there was no way to guess how long she or I had in this place. I took a couple steps towards her, putting my hands on her shoulders and looking her in the eye, I did the only thing I could think of.
"Do you trust me?"
"What? I don't even-" I cut her off.
"Do you trust me to get you out of here, alive?" I repeated. She looked at me with tears in her eyes, she nodded.
"Yeah." She whispered. I gave her a small smile, thankful she was cooperating with me. I slipped my arm under hers and then my other behind her knees. Cradling her, I began walking again. She was so much lighter in my arms than I expected. Glancing down at her again, I felt the sense of determination rise inside of me. The determination to not only get me out of this place but her as well. She reminded me of myself in a way, she reminded me of something or someone else but parts of my head were still fuzzy.

"Oh, Lazarus
How did your debts get paid?
Oh, Lazarus
Were you so afraid?"
