A/N: My vision for Erwin, though a little older and with dark brown eyes instead. He's somewhere in his late forties and like 6'3. He's honestly a good person, he just has a lot to deal with.

"So, what did Aaron say? I'm very busy, I can't deal with this right now," Erwin said to Lucillia as he walked down the corridor towards the meeting room. His son had laid off half of the staff, it wasn't as though Erwin would just ignore his half-empty castle. Trailing behind--and by the rapid footsteps, he could tell she was struggling to do so--Lucillia shuffled through the paperwork in hand.

Ever since the king had made the proclamation to the prince, he had basically assigned her as his Head of the House, or, to put it more simply, an over-glorified secretary. She didn't mind as he was her king, but she did feel as though her abilities could be put to better use. As a woman at such a high position in the court, she already felt honored, but she still could hear the whispers about her. She knew that they thought she was giving the king something. And she knew they meant it sexually. It was sick to imagine doing, and she knew Erwin would never want such a thing from her. His wife may have died, but he was faithful to his core. Lucillia trusted him enough. If anything, they were friends. He confided in her when he felt stressed about this or that, and with her more commoner mindset, she tried offering advice--carefully, of course, as she was still just a commoner. Regardless, it was completely professional, or at least she tried to make it so. She took up a lot of behind-the-scenes responsibilities in order to feel like she was actually doing anything to help around the castle, but that sadly included the paperwork as well as dealing with Prince Aaron.

"Oh, sir, I sent a servant to find out what his response was, but I'd rather not repeat his words. They were quite... vulgar," She admitted shyly, to which Erwin stopped in his tracks. "What did he say?" He questioned. Lucillia gulped.

His bedroom door opened with a bang, and Aaron's head swiveled around, looking up from his book as he read from his desk, surprised to find his father there. "So, according to Lucillia, you want me to 'kiss my ass'?" Erwin snarled, walking in without permission, slamming the door closed. "Aaron, do you have any idea what you've done by laying off all of those people?" Aaron was already to his feet, narrowing his eyes, but before he could speak, his father cut in. "No, I don't think you do realize. By firing all of those people, not only have you caused more resentment and more of a reason for the citizens to be upset, but now we are understaffed and all the servants who may have actually been loyal are gone, and any staff we hire now are twice as likely to be spies."

"Hey!" Aaron shouted, slapping his hand down on the desk. "I may have expelled the one threat to the throne that may have been under our noses this entire time and you seriously are complaining? I'm not apologizing for this. What I did was smart." Erwin's eyes were as cold as ice, but Aaron simply sighed in dismay. "We're in a delicate spot, father, and looking back, yes, I could have played it smarter. But the more we think about our next step, the further the rebels will have stepped ahead of us. There's no going back now, so get over it." Erwin stormed over, slamming his hand on Aaron's desk twice as hard as his son had. "You are still as arrogant as ever, aren't you? These are people's lives you're manipulating! And more than anything, by the gods, Aaron, why is it that every single person you fired was in the lowest of the lower class? Have you no shame that you must group them all into a category? As if sending them to the streets begging wasn't enough, you're profiling? They're not all apart of one big generalization, you idiot."

"If I am to be called an idiot, you are a fool of a king who would rather kindness over survival!"

"And that mindset is why you will never be king!"

Aaron gritted his teeth together, swallowing his rage. "And that mindset is while you will die in the same way that mom did. Pointlessly." He knew it was coming. It should have been obvious to anyone. But somehow it still shocked him that his father could. Erwin's hand cracked across Aaron's face with such force that his head flew sideways, and he grabbed his face as it lit up with pain. "Insult me all you like, but you do not speak about your mother that way, you selfish brat."

Erwin headed for the door. "You will never change. Katerina would be ashamed of you." And with that, Erwin slammed the door shut, leaving Aaron there, stunned silent.

A/N: Super short chapter, but I thought it was needed. Like, um, you can't just fire a bunch of people and not have anyone notice?? Oh, Aaron, learn to be a smarter dick.
