Dispersing your scales, you ran to meet Blake. You grabbed whatever metal you could along the way to replenish your energy. You had seconds at best before White Fang members arrived to investigate the destruction. Pain raced through your body. Fighting the Element Four had done a number on you.

Eventually you made it to the edge of the forest where Blake was waiting. Concern entered her eyes as she saw you limping, bleeding and covered in bruises. To ease her, you said, " If it's any consolation, not all the blood is mine. Also the Element Four will no longer be causing harm to people. Now, downside is we really have to go before all the White Fang gets here."

She nods and the two of you make your way through the night, looking for a drop ship to Beacon. Eventually, you find one and board. The pilot looks at you quizzically. " It has been a night," you say. " It will be an even longer one if you can't get us to Beacon soon."

He shrugs and starts the drop ship. Immediately you feel ill. A side effect of your Semblance is you get motion sick easily. Metallicana explained once that this was an extremely common problem for Dragonslayers. He never explained why though. Either way, you feel like dying. Although that might just be the blood loss.

Blake taps on your shoulder. You look over and she has a handful of pills. " I grabbed these on the way here," she explains. " Some of them are painkillers and some are for your motion sickness."

I smile and grab them from her. " You're literally the best," I say after popping them.

A few hours later we arrive at Beacon. A man in a black suit comes to greet us. He has gray hair and glasses. I know him instantly. He's Professor Ozpin. Headmaster of Beacon.

" Oh. Well who do we have here," he asks.

" I'm (y/n) and this is Blake. I know this unorthodox. We don't have transcripts and we aren't from one of the other combat schools. But we can fight. Believe me we can."

He lets out a light chuckle. " Judging from your wounds, I can tell. Are you aware that they would cripple most normal men?"

" I get that a lot actually," I say, which is true. I have an unnatural ability to take one hell of an asskicking. The Element Four used to comment on it frequently.

" Well. Blake, if you don't mind I'd like to talk with your friend (y/n) in private," he says. It isn't a request. " Why don't you find Glynda Goodwitch and take the entrance exam? I'll notify her of your circumstances."

Blake hesitates, but doesn't argue. She walks inside Beacon. Ozpin looks me up and down. " Come with me. Oh, and how do you take your coffee?"

We walk into a large office. He hands me a mug, which I accept. He sits down in a large chair, and places his hands together. " Now. There are many things about me that you should know. But let me start with the most important one. I'm no idiot."

I nod. " I know that Blake is a Faunus. And I highly suspect that she has a past with the White Fang. But you. You're the wild card. You're no Faunus so you couldn't have been part of the White Fang. And yet someone did quite a number on you. Also, I'm curious. Your shirt is ruined so I can see your tattoo. What's it of?"

Phantom Lord made all members get a tattoo. It was their way of saying they owned us. I made sure to cover mine whenever it was possible. " There was a branch of the White Fang called Phantom Lord," I say. No use in lying. I suspect Ozpin already has a multitude of suspicions.

" Extremely powerful humans, who they could use as expandable enforcers. I was one of them. This is the tattoo they made all new recruits get."

He clicks his tongue. " Ah. Now tell me, why should I let either of you into my school? As you said you have no transcripts, no formal combat experience and are former terrorists."

I rub my arm, painfully aware of the tattoo now. " You shouldn't sir. Legally, morally. There's no reason too. But...at least let Blake in."

He raises an eye, signaling for me to continue. " She's a great fighter, she's intelligent and hardworking. Yes, she was part of the White Fang. But can you blame her? She'd been persecuted against her entire life. And then a group comes along and says she'll be treated fairly so she joins. She's made mistakes, but who hasn't? I'm begging you, don't look at her as a Faunus or a former White Fang member. Please see her as a scared girl who is painfully aware of her mistakes and is trying to make them right."

" I planned to let her in," he says. " Now tell me, she was a scared girl, but what were you when you joined Phantom Lord?"

I sigh. " A pissed off little brat. My dad had left me, and I was alone. All I knew how to do was fight. And then the Belladonnas took me in. And then they joined the White Fang. And I just wanted to follow them and keep an eye out for them."

He pushes his glasses up. " You want me to see Blake as someone desperately trying to do the right thing. What would you want me to see you as?"

" A young man. Who has sinned. And hurt people and destroyed things. Someone who has left wounds that will take years to heal, and that's assuming they ever can. But when you see that young man, I also want you to see a young man who is just trying to do a little bit better than he did yesterday."

Ozpin smiles. " I believe in second chances. Know this however, you and Blake are on thin ice. At the first sign that you two are backsliding you will be kicked out of the school. But I don't think you'll do that."

I nod and turn to leave. Before I step out the door, Ozpin says, " Oh, and I must know. Where are those wounds from?"

" The first step to doing better than yesterday," I say.
