Chapter 9

You and Blake checked into the dance. After she had her dance with Yang, the two of you hung out having a great time. You had already made up your mind that you were going to tell her tonight how you felt about her. The feelings had been weighing on you for a while, and it wasn't something you could go much longer without saying.

The two of you slow danced, and it was a little awkward at first as neither of you had ever really done it before. But, neither of you seemed to mind. " Hey Blake," you began. " Thanks for coming with me tonight. It means a lot that even though you're making a lot of new friends that you still make time for me."

" (y/n) I'll always have time for you. You're my best friend, and you've done so much for me. And really, there isn't anyone else I'd rather be here with," she says. All this warms your heart, and a gentle smile crosses your face.

" Right. Well, um there was something I wanted to talk with you about," you admit. " I've wanted too for a while but I've never found a good time to bring it up. One thing or another was always in the way. But right now, if you don't mind would be amazing."

She tilts her head in confusion. You never ask for permission to talk about things. By this alone, she knows this is pretty important to you. " Go ahead" she says.

" The truth is Blake, I've had feelings for you for the longest time. I don't know when they started. Maybe it was when you taught me how to read. Or maybe it was the time where you made sure I had a blanket our first day on the White Fang. I don't know when I fell for you, but yeah. And for the longest time I've been putting this off because no time felt right. But, I can't deal with this lingering inside of me. I've decided that life is short and that I should take chances when I get them. It's okay if you don't feel the same way. I just need you to know how I feel about you."

You've never been more nervous than you are right now. This could literally go millions of different ways. Best case scenario, she felt the same way and you started a new relationship with her. And worst case scenario, she hates you for this and you lose a valuable friendship.

" I feel the same," she admits. " I only started dating Adam because I thought it would make things better for you. And then I stayed with him out of fear. And then we you asked me to this dance I was really hopeful. But this is amazing. I can have a boyfriend who's also my best friend."

She rests her head on your chest, as the song ends. Later that night, you drop her off at her dorm, and you bite your lip. " Um, can I kiss you?"

Blake nods. The two of you kiss passionately, only breaking off when the need for oxygen becomes overwhelming. The two of you smile warmly at each other. What you two have is truly a beautiful thing.

Authors Note: A bit of a shorter chapter. Honestly I'm probably going to wrap this story up in the next one or two chapters. I'm really happy with how this turned out. It's my first time writing fanfiction, so I was pretty nervous. Let me know your thoughts.
