Alex POV

My mind has being in turmoil since that night with my mate.
I was this fricking close to kissing her. To giving her what we both wanted. But then she went all crazy on me. One minute we were up against a tree, her sweet arousal putting me in a trance. The next minute I was a foot away from her stuck inside some invisible wall.

I ran my hand over my face and got up from behind the big oak desk in my office. I went to the cabinet and poured myself a drink. The burn of the shot going down helped to cool my temper.

It flared again, however, when I thought about missing her again at our clearing.

That morning I  woke up in a cold sweat. It felt as if something bad was going to happen in regards to my mate.

After a few minutes, the feeling went away.  I got out of bed and tapped into our connection. I traced it to our clearing. I could see that she was meditating so I stayed home and got some work done.

A few hours later, I saw that she was still at our clearing so I decided to go there. As I neared there, her intoxicating scent wrapped around me. As I entered, I saw that she was gone.

She sensed me and ran away.

Again.

I gritted my teeth and teleported back to my house. I was in a sour mood ever since.

A knock on the door drew me out of my brooding.

"Enter"

Celeste, my mother, walked through the door. Her dark red hair was straight down her back and an elegant black dress graced her body. She was a very beautiful woman.

"Son. You've locked yourself in this dreadful place for the past two days. What's wrong with you?" A crease appeared at her brow. She was worried about me.

My mother was the only one in my very messed up family that cared about me. Her and my sister, Dynasti. My father had only cared about his good name and ensuring that it stayed good. Which was hard because his other son was being a power hungry nuisance.

Walking up to Celeste, I took her hand and led her to the leather seatee were we sat down.

"I am fine mother. Have just been busy with palace work"

"You know I can tell when your lying to me son. Don't let me invade your mind"

I sighed. My mother was a very persistent woman.

"I... I'm fine mother. Its nothing"

"Lex... Don't try me"her tone was a warning one.

I didn't want my mom in my head so I just told her .

"I found my soul mother"

Her eyes widened comically and then she screeched and hugged me.

"That's great son. Very great. Wonderful. Who is she? Is she beautiful? Is she nice? Is she.."

"One question at a time mother"
I laughed. She looked so excited.

She laughed also. "I'm sorry son. Well tell me about her"

"She's beautiful mom. Extremely beautiful. And I don't really know if she's nice or not. She's always running away from me"

I tried to keep my temper from rising.

"Your just overwhelming her son. She'll stop. Soon. I need to go call your sister and tell her. She's going to be so excited"

Dy was away in Persia meeting with our allies, trying to find out anything about the people trying wage a war.
