Chapter Eleven: It's the Beginning of the End

Once Tony had hit Steve, he fell back as I side stepped out of the way. Glaring at Steve as tears slipped down my cheeks. Tony quickly deflected Bucky's gun as he grabbed him. He flew across the chamber slamming Bucky onto the floor and jumped on his arms. I walked over to Steve and we stood face to face while my hands slowly glowed with electricity as Steve began to walk forward.

"Katie, step aside. I'm not gonna fight you."

"You don't have to." I blasted him but he reflected off of his shield. He walked forward as I continuously tried to blast him but to no effect. Once he had reached me, he grabbed my arm harshly.

"I know he didn't mean to. I know it wasn't really him," I told him.

"Then why blast me?"

"Because I'm angry."

"Then stop your father." He threw his shield hitting my father and it distracted him allowing Steve to knock him backwards. Tony shouldered him to the floor and shackled his ankles. Bucky punched Dad while he lifted Bucky and slammed his into a large machine. As Dad raised his fist, Bucky starts to twist it. A rocket shot out of a repuslor and a fireball exploded. Steve sliced his shackles as a tall structure of pipework began to collapse. I quickly ran as it began to fall behind me. I dove away as it finally reached the ground and rolled to the side. A thin layer of smoke filled the air around me and my eyes were a bit blurry and I started to cough. Once my vision cleared, I saw Bucky and Dad had been knocked down.

"Get out of here!" Steve yelled at Bucky. As Bucky ran Tony fired his repulsor but missed. Steve landed right in front of Dad and Bucky struck the control panel making the giant door overhead started to open.

"It wasn't him, Tony. Hydra had control of his mind!" Steve explained.

"Move!"

"I wasn't him!"

"Dad!" I yelled. Dad flew by as Steve grabbed his ankle mid air and smashed it. Tony blocked Steve by shooting down some rubble then falteringly flew up the tower.

"Left boot jet failing. Flight systems compromised," FRIDAY said.

"Ah crap." Bucky leaped from platform to platform as Tony began to chase him with his stuttering jets and kicked Bucky's and took aim. Once his beam blasted it bounced on Steve's shield onto himself making Dad drop like a stone and land on a lower platform. I flew up and knelt down beside him.

"Dad! Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Now get out of the way," he responded. He soared upwards as Steve jumped shooting a wire aimed at Dad.

"No." I jumped in front of the path before it could reach him, but it wrapped around my arm. It dragged me down and onto a lower platform. My arm was wrapped with a metal wire with blood around the edges. I untangled the wire and threw it aside.

Looking up, I see Tony deflecting Steve's shield and target Bucky. He helmet retracted as he aimed at the opening hatch finally firing. It hit the giant hinge which exploded and cut off Bucky's escape route. As Tony flew up to Bucky's level, he blocked two swings from a pipe being swung around. Dad grabbed Bucky by the neck from the back. They seemed to be talking before Bucky pushed both of them from the walkway. Steve jumped into them to deflect their fall and Bucky landed on a platform while Tony and Steve landed on the concrete floor beside the opening in the wall where snow drifts in from the blizzard outside. I flew down to help Steve up.

"This isn't gonna change what happened," Steve said.

"I don't care. He killed my mom," Tony sharply replied.

"Tony," I quickly stood between them, "you don't need to do this. It doesn't have to be this way."

"Katie, move. Move right now, before you get hurt."

"No! Don't made me have to stop you."

"You wouldn't." My hands glowed when I took a fighting stance. He flew forward when Steve pushed me out of the way. They traded punches when Tony ended up pinning Steve down. Bucky picked up Cap's shield and leaped down to help. I blasted his side and he bent down on one knee. He looked at me in disbelief.

"I'm sorry." He charged at me but I deflected his blow to my shoulder and side stepped to the right. I blasted him to the ground. When he was on the ground, he kicked me in my stomach. I stumbled backwards as he ran at me and and hit me with Steve's shield. I caught it by the edge and it cut into my hands. He pushed be backwards when I sent electricity through the shield and into Bucky. He fell back unconscious. He won't be out for long. Suddenly Bucky came up behind me and knocked me in the back of the head. I fell to the ground with everything spinning. It was hard to see but all I could make out was Steve and Bucky hitting Dad repeatedly. He finally got a chance to blast Steve into the wall. Bucky struggled to hold Dad at bay as he unleashed an energy beam. Then he forced Tony against the opposite wall and gripped the glowing arch reactor in Dad's chest. He screamed as he continued to crush it while I tried to stand and make my way over to Bucky. I gripped Bucky and jerked him back right as Dad blasted a strong beam from his chest. It not only hit Bucky's metal arm but hit mine as well. Bucky's arm was completely ripped off as mine was covered in burn marks. I screamed as I knelt to the ground in excruciating pain. I kept my head down as Bucky laid right beside me. I looked over as Steve had pinned Dad up against the wall repeatedly punching him.

"Stop it! No!" I screamed. I jumped over to Steve just as Dad caught his shield.

"Let's kick his butt." I sent a few volts of electricity through Steve as Dad threw his shield away and blasted him backwards. He hit the other wall as he blocked his punches and blasted him once again this time to his knees. I walked over a stood beside Dad while my eyes glowed and sparks flew every which way. Bucky still laid on his back behind Steve. Steve looked up at Tony and I.

"He's my friend," he said.

"So was I," Tony responded. He punched Steve and threw him back at the gaps in the wall.

"Tony-"

"Stay down. Final warning," Tony instructed. Steve struggled to his feet and held up his fist with he face bloody.

"I can do this all day." Tony raised his palm ready to fire but Bucky grabbed his leg making Tony become distracted and kick him in the head. Steve grabbed my arm and threw me to the side and I hit my head on the concrete wall nearby. I hit the ground as my eyes filled with tears while bagging and clashing echoed through the air. Finally, it all stopped. I used all of my strength just to lift my head and gasp at the scene. Steve had ripped Tony's mask off and slammed his shield into his arch reactor. After a few moments Steve ripped his shield out of Tony's chest. He stepped a few feet away and helped Bucky up to his feet. He was beat up and bloody but conscious.

"That shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield!" Tony exclaimed. Then, he did the unthinkable, and he dropped his shield. Then they walked, or limped, away.

"Dad," I whimpered. He looked over at me and his eyes widen in fear.

"Katie." Tears fell out of my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. He struggled to his feet and rushed over to me and laid beside me.

"It hurts."

"I know sweet heart. I know. Come on lets call a jet to pick us up."

We slowly made our way outside and waited for a jet to come get us. I slowly drifted off to sleep when the jet came into view.
