His eyes met hers and slowly his hand reached forward for hers.
Jean looked down as their hands met; fingers intertwining together.
"I guess this doesn't happen often to you, Jean." He murmured looking at her, brown eyes gazing into hers.
And that's when she did it.
She kicked him and ran.

Being the typical teenager has it's ups and downs; higlights and lowlights.
During teenage years you learn how to fall in love, cry in the middle of night, deal with issues, and most of all, how to cope with life. Although most teenagers nowadays easily adapt to highschool life they mostly view it as carefree, rather than a sort of initiation into the world. The thing that comes the easiest to teens nowadays is love, they sort of have a way in which they find that one true person that views them for who they truly are, but there is a downside to this.
Even though almost everyone finds someone to be in love with, there is always that one person who is caught up in the middle of everything; stuck between reality and fiction.
I suppose that is where our main character comes into play.
Due to living a normal life for as long as seventeen years, growing up with a regular family life, and having a decent amount of friends, she is essentially the girl who is stuck in the middle. I only say this because she's a well... Hermit. She stays in her room most of the time reading and drifting off to other worlds within the books she reads.
But she has a side to her that only a few have seen, hidden inside her is a need for the creativity of love, almost a smart of hope within a dense world. As being the middle child, she has two older siblings and two younger ones, so she is sort of like the pickle in a cucumber patch. Her siblings were blessed with gracious looks, while she was given average looks such as dark brown hair and blue eyes; not fat, but not skinny, right in the middle as some would say. Given a simple name such as Jeanne, she is seen as a "Plain Jane" at her school, getting average grades.
Nobody ever really bothers to talk to her, although the rare few that do have come to love her for her; seeing the side of her that no one else does. Even though she has people that love her, she can't help but crave for the typical highschool romance, but she constantly worries about how people will view her if she tries to reach out to someone.
But that's where we must remember, that once you reach out and go beyond your limits, you achieve great things and go to greater places; experiencing things you thought you never would.
