8 Months Later (May)....
"I can't do this!"
"You are such a baby, Jean."
"I look like a gorilla in this dress!"
Sighing, Jean looked down at her dress that fell gently to the floor beneath her feet. It was a light, powder blue and the bosom part was beaded with silver beads. Maggie was with her at the moment because she had claimed that she was going to prom later than Jean was. Shaw probably had something adorable planned for the two of them.
It was prom night of senior year and that basically was a make it or break it chance in high school. Jean wasn't planning on going to prom but when Josh had asked her by writing "Prom?" in the mud on the side of his truck she couldn't say no.
Despite all of their drama with Kyla and Brayden, Jean and Josh had managed to make something out of their friendship and turn it into a relationship. Kyla and Brayden had begun to date each other two weeks after her and Josh had their little episode. The good thing was that Kyla left Jean alone, but sometimes gave her dirty looks.
Their relationship was going to be a long-lasting one and Jean could tell. They made each other happy and that is what counted in the long run.
"Josh is going to be here in 30 minutes!" Maggie exclaimed as she began to pull and tug at Jean's hair. She was curling her hair into loose curls that would fall just above her waist.
"Yes I understand that. Thanks for reminding me, Einstein." Jean muttered under her breath.

After 20 long and painful minutes, Jean stood in the living room of her house while her parents took pictures of her in her dress.
"How much pictures do you need to take?" She grunted as a flash went off in her face. She glared at the direction where the flash had come from.
"You only go to prom once!" Her mother clapped her hands together happily while she sat down on the sofa. Her dad looked at her approvingly while he stood next to where her mother was sitting.
The door bell rang causing them to all look at the door.
Getting up her mother looked back at Jean before she opened the door. As the door opened, it revealed a very handsome Josh. He had definitely cleaned up for the occasion. His face was cleanly shaven, the faint smell of cologne drifted into the house, and he just looked good.
"Hey." Jean mumbled nervously while Josh looked at her up and down. The smile on his face widened as his eyes settled on her face.
"Just about ready to leave?" His question was gentle and patient.
Nodding she stepped over to him, but before they could leave her parents demanded to take pictures of the two of them together. So after 5 solid minutes of flashes going off, the two of them headed out the door.
"Where's the truck, Josh?" Jean looked around as they approached the street where his truck would have been. She was slightly disappointed; that truck was amazing and she loved riding in it.
"A special night deserves a special ride." Confused, she looked over at him but saw that he was looking somewhere else.
Down the street parked under a street light was a sleek, black '67 Chevy impala. Gasping Jean looked back at Josh and he smiled sheepishly at her.
"Where did you get it?" They began walking towards the car. Josh silently slipped his hand into hers, intertwining their fingers together.
"I've always had it. I just never drive it; I prefer my truck. This car is strictly show room and special occasions. My grandpa had left it to me after he passed away." He walked over to the passenger door and opened it.
Jean smiled at him warmly as she got into the car; careful not to touch the paint on it. Josh closed the door softly behind her and slid over the hood to the driver's side.
The engine roared to life as they drove down the street towards the school gym where prom was being hosted. Jean could hear the music thumping in the distance. As the school came into sight, Josh made an abrupt right turn.
"Josh? Where are we going?" She bit her lip nervously as the car drove down the road in the darkness.
"You'll see." His pressed his foot further into the gas as they sped down the road quicker.

As they continued driving for 20 minutes, the stars had become more visible and bright as they made their way further from the town. The moon shown bright on the landscape around them. Halfway through the ride Josh had turned on the music but didn't blast it.
The car began to slow down and Josh made one last turn. The road ended after about 2 minutes of driving down it. Reaching over Josh put the car in parked and turned off the ignition.
"Wait here." Jean nodded mutely as she watched him get out of the car. She admired the way his shoulders moved under his tuxedo.
He walked over to her side of the car and opened the door for her with a smile on his face. Then Josh walked over to the back of the car and popped open the trunk. He grabbed out a blanket and then laid it out on the hood.
Covering her eyes, Josh helped Jean sit onto the hood of the car. He settled next to her and then removed his hands from her face.
The view caused Jean to go breathless. The town shown brightly below them and all the lights looked so beautiful. She could see the gym where prom was and then if she looked across town she could see her house dimly lit.
"Josh this is beautiful." She whispered as she turned to look at Josh. He was looking back at her with a smile on his face.
Leaning forward, he reached out and traced her hand with his thumb. Then he lowered his lips and lightly grazed hers. Jean's breath hitched when his lips met hers slightly. Josh rested his other hand on her hip and then fully pressed his lips against hers.
She gasped lightly at the sensation that went through her body. Before the kiss became too deep, he leaned away and smiled at her.
"Jean?"
"Yeah, Josh?"
"I love you."
Looking up at his eyes, she saw that he was looking back at her. The look on his face told her that he was with the person he truly loved and wanted to be with.
"I love you too, Josh." And then his lips went back onto hers.
