Rowen was in a meeting with one of her co-workers, Fran Goldman, when the head receptionist Gail Vincent, knocked on the door interrupting them. Gail smiled softly and friendly at them both before her eyes moved to Rowen.

"Sorry to interrupt ladies, but there are two men at reception for you Miss Munroe."

Gail always spoke formally, no matter how many times Rowen asked her to call her by her first name; the older woman just wouldn't do it. Telling her that it wasn't business-like, that Rowen was her higher-up and deserved the title. Rowen felt uneasy about it, but never fought her on it; at least not after the first few times she had tried.

Gail had won that fight.

"If you'll excuse me, Fran." Rowen rose gracefully from her desk, smoothing down her black pinstriped pencil skirt as she did so.

Rowen followed behind Gail while she tried to think of a meeting that she might have forgotten. With a memory like her own, especially when it came to her work, Rowen was sure that there was nothing scheduled for today.

"Miss Munroe." Gail interrupted her thoughts.

"Yes, Gail?"

"I feel I need to tell you that I have a feeling that these men might be police officers. Even though they did not introduce themselves as such." Gail said softly.

Rowen's brow furrowed in confusion, unsure as to why police officers would be at her work looking for her.

"How could you tell?" Rowen asked.

"My husband, bless his soul, when he was younger he was into some... less than legal things." A warm smile lit up the older woman's face.

"Did you marry the bad boy Gail?" Rowen teased softly watching the woman blush.

"Yes, and it's because I did marry him that I know a police officer when I see one. Uniform or not."

"Thank you, Gail. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all of this."

"I'm sure there is Miss Munroe."

The two women fell into silence as they entered the main foyer where the two men were standing, because of Gail's warning Rowen was instantly on her guard.

The two men in front of her were wearing inexpensive and durable black and grey suits. As she walked closer, with Gail by her side, she was assessing them as she did with all clients. It was something that her bosses had wanted her to do, making sure that they weren't wasting their time on a person who wasn't going to use their company.

As they drew closer the two men heard the clicking of their heels on the stone tiles and turned to face them. One didn't have his jacket buttoned and Rowen saw the flash of a badge and the handle of a gun. She was positive that it wasn't a mistake that she had seen them.
