Liam had always thought of himself as a smart man, however in the few short weeks that he had the pleasure of knowing Rowen Munroe; he had proven on more than one occasion that he wasn't as smart as he believed himself to be.

He was supposed to be showing her that he wanted her in his life, that he would trust and believe her when she told him anything, and yet all he had done was the complete opposite. He had gone and made things worse, just when they had started to slip into place for the two of them.

Liam was not only disappointed in himself; he was also disappointed in his team.

His disappointment towards his team was a major issue. They were supposed to know everyone's movements, the people they had working for them and their enemies. If the police visiting Rowen's workplace had slipped through their net, it was not something Liam could let go of without fixing the situation immediately.

He could fix his team easily enough. He didn't know how to fix what he had done to Rowen, again. Even with all of his brains, it hadn't stopped him from failing her once more.

He had let one of his enemies get too close to her, and if there was anything that Liam knew about the police, they were like sharks, one hint of blood in the water and they would go for the kill.

Just like every family that had ties to the mafia, the Raffaello's had never really had a good relationship with the law. The police had tried to put Liam and his family away for many things, sometimes it was something as simple as a parking ticket, but no matter what they tried to pin on them, none of it stuck.

Liam knew that attacking Daniel the way he had would have the police sniffing around, he just didn't think that they would have come so soon, which should have made him more cautious. Something as simple as forgetting one insignificant group of people had put his entire operation, not to mention his budding relationship with Rowen, in jeopardy.

Liam tried to call her, only for it to go straight to voicemail. Trying to send her a message also failed to gain a response.

I fucked up big time, Liam thought running his hand through his hair in frustration.

He wanted to apologize to her, he wanted her to know that he was genuinely sorry and that was something new for him. She had every right to be angry at him, but to shut him out when he was trying to make things better was something that Liam didn't understand.

Staring back at his phone, still sitting silently in his hand, he let out a yell of frustration before throwing it across the room. Not even hearing it shatter as it hit the wall made him feel any better. All it did was make him want to throw more things until they broke, the only thing stopping him was knowing that if he did it, that he was effectively throwing a tantrum, and there was no way that a mafia Don threw tantrums.

Walking heavily towards his bar, Liam snagged the bottle of old Irish whiskey and took large mouthfuls from the bottle. Wincing as the burn settled into his stomach from the strong spirit.
