I'm REALLY sorry for the wait (if there's anyone who actually reads this). I guess life got too busy... But anyway, hope everyone had a wonderful easter, and here is chapter five!

Chapter Five

My laughter came to a halt as we reached the end of the pathway, and were at the top of a small hill. Hundreds of teenagers were surrounding the biggest bonfire I had seen in my entire life, and trust me, I’d seen my fair share of fires.

Wow.

Beside me, Jay whistled. “Huh. Not as big a turn out as last year.”

I stared at him in shock. “Are you kidding, this is massive!”

He laughed at me and ruffled my hair. “Sure it is El. Want to go meet some people?” I nodded and we became a part of the crowd.

Laughter, shouting and music echoed through the air, into a giant cacophony of noise. The heat from the fire was enough to make the cool night bearable, and I’m sure the closely packed bodies helped a lot too. Despite coming from such a large pack, walking through the crowd I couldn’t see a single person I knew. Needless to say, I held onto Jay’s hand extremely tight.

We made our way to the very far end of the clearing, where there were less people and a lot more room. A small group of about ten people turned to us as we approached.

“No way! You’re shitting me!” A short blonde girl squealed, launching her body hard at Jay. He staggered slightly at the unexpected impact, but laughed and wrapped his arms around the girl.

“I thought you weren’t gonna come this year!” She pulled back and stared at him in shock.

I stood to the side, slightly confused. Was there something going on here...? A twinge in my stomach twisted at that thought. I guess I was just extremely overprotective of my best friend.

What if they’d gone out, in past years?! What if Jay would spend all him time with this girl, and ignore me completely? I don’t think I could handle that... He was my best friend, after all.

“That was only if Ella couldn’t come,” he explained, grinning widely.

“Shit cakes are you serious?! Is Ella here!?” She shrieked, spinning around wildly.

Okay. Ella confused.

Jay stopped her spinning and pointed over at me. The girl gasped and before I knew it, was hugging me tight. She pulled away and held me at arms length. “You probably don’t know who I am, and you probably think I belong in a mental ward, which would be a good judgement on your part, but I feel like I know you already.”

I glanced over to Jay, confusion and worry clear on my face. He laughed and gently pulled the girl off me.

“Ella, this is the slightly psychopathic Bianca. She replaced you in the years you couldn’t come. I was actually thinking of swapping her for you, you know. She doesn’t hit me as much.” He commented off handedly. Right on cue, I punched him in the shoulder. Bianca laughed.

“Sorry, I’m Bianca. I feel like we’re already friends, since this one never shut up about you in the past years. Came crying to me every time he missed you.” I laughed at Bianca, slightly uneasily. I still didn’t know if there was anything going on there? I mean, Jay would have told me... right?

“That is such crap! I don’t miss anyone!” Jay said in a deep voice, puffing out his chest.

“Bianca! Oh god, you’re not terrorising anyone are y- Jay! Hey man! Good to see you!” A tall, dark skinned boy gently pushed his way through the crowd towards us.
