{Guess I'm dead now?}

Walking down the sterile white hallway, Zhou Yun's heels clacked away as she speed-walked towards her office. Her white lab-like coat fluttering behind her as she did.

Massaging her temple, her hair was a mess as she reached the large doors and swiped her ID card on the reader. The days were getting hectic as not only was the Underground trying to contact her during her long awaited break, there was a bigshot trying to jump the queue to get a heart-transplant.

Although Zhou Yun was one of the top people in the Underground, a dark clan of sorts, she still properly fulfilled her duty as the Director of the largest medical company in China:  Golden Bell Medicine.

Throwing down another file on top of her chaotic desk, Zhou Yun let out a dry laugh as the pile of folders slid across the table, covering it completely. She hadn't slept for a week.

Sure she didn't need to sleep, but sleep is what a bug zapper is to insects; irresistible.

Lost in her thoughts and desire for sleep, she had begun to slack in her senses, her defense dropped slightly lower than normal as she had been off the job for longer than any other time. This had in the end, left an opening to attack, as the moment she lacked focus was the moment they struck.

Although she knew this day would be coming, she didn't think one of the people would be one of her closest aids at the company. Xu Feng, one of the young girls she taught in medicine was standing there in front of her somehow with a long needle in her hand; her mouth and nose was covered as she released a strange fragrance into Zhou Yun's shocked face.

The moment Zhou Yun accidentally inhaled it, the needle was thrust into her throat faster than she could react. Zhou Yun never suspected Xu Feng, and as a result, her guard was at it's lowest against her presence and now she reaped what she sowed.

As the needle was jerked out, blood flowed down the front of Zhou Yun's neck and chest, her breathing halted. At that moment, Zhou Yun noticed a dark smile form in Xu Feng's eyes and before she knew it, a bullet landed into her temple, killing her instantly.

As darkness swirled in Zhou Yun's mind, she was kind of glad things were done.

Being a part of the Underground, once you were in, you could never leave unless you were 6-foot under. No, maybe even then you'd still be trapped inside that poisonous web, never to be freed.

If this is the end, it was pretty crappy. I mean, I never got to kick that bigshot's ass for being so arrogant and obnoxious.

Zhou Yun couldn't help but sigh. Her carefree attitude was being to show. Being stuck in the dark for so long, her real personality had long been locked away, submerged in the deepest part of her. But now she felt relieved from being released from the chains.

But, I guess I'm dead huh?

In the end, Zhou Yun was still a dead person, and even if her real self had finally been released, it still couldn't see the light of day.

In her mind, Zhou Yun organised her thoughts and the world around her fell into silence. As time passed, she could no longer tell whether this was it, or if her consciousness was supposed to start fading away.

But either way, this was the end of Zhou Yun, and even if she pondered over this pointless thought for who knows how long, nothing would change.

She was dead and that was it.

A/N:

So I'm trying out a Wuxia story... after reading so many, it makes you want to write one too *laughs awkwardly* anyway, I'm not Chinese, and I personally don't know it's language etc. and I'm not even completely familiar with Wuxia, so there's probably going to be Western elements mushed in together too hahaha.

Anyway, I'll try my best! And if you're wondering what Zhou Yun looks like, her current self as a director kinda looks like a nerdy bookworm whose hair is like a bird's nest. But rest assured! She showers.
