Falling Down (Levi and Mikasa)

Chapter Six

Mikasa sat at lunch quietly, watching the rest talk about probably a bunch of nonsense. When Levi came in the cafeteria to grab is food, she could feel his eyes watching her. She wanted to scoff at him.

Eventually Hange came to our table, it was normal for her now too.

"How did this morning go?" She asks me.

I shrug, "nothing special," i lied.

"Levi was really pissed off today. More grouchy and idea why?" Eren wondered.

"Thats not surprising, hes a damned jerk."

Hange waves up her hands, "woah woah woah, what happened? Why do you say that?"

"He invited me to join the Levi squad," her face cold and unfeeling.

Eren stands, excited by the news till he saw mikasa's face, "is that a bad thing?"

"I accepted but, he kept saying a bunch of things that i just wanted to join to protect you. I have more reason than that."

"More of a reason?" Hange questions.

I feel a bit of courage then, "Hange, can I speak to you alone?" I never talked to anyone about my feelings but, maybe i would feel better. Like a weight lifted off my chest.

She nods and I follow her out of the cafeteria. When we get far enough away, where no ine could hear us.

She gets all excited, "oh my, its very secret," her cheeks turn pink.

"I want to stop trying to figure out about levi liking someone," i shamefully admit.

"What? Why? What really happened?" Her hands rest on mikasas shoulders.

I fidgit nervously, "i slapped him across the face this morning."

Her mouth gapes open, "no way...." she laughs then, "im sure he deserved it. Is it because what he said about you and eren?"

"Thats how it started until i said i wanted to fight by Levi's side and protect him..." mikasa was feeling worse, like she was about to cry. Does falling in love feel like this? Where you cry too much?

Hange eyes soften with worry, "mikasa, did you.... fall in love with him?"

Her body shook, as a couple tears escaped, Hange reacting to it, hugged her tightly.

"I didnt think you'd fall for him. That is a shock."

"Its stupid. I dont know what im supposed to do. I doubt he wants to see me again and right now i dont really want to see him. He rejected me, saying that I need training to control my emotions, as I was hurt. He told me... that now ill just obsessivly protect him. He seemed disgusted."

"Yeah, he deserved that slap. What me to give him one too?"

Her small laugh was shakey, "no..." and mikasa was right, a weight lifted up off her shoulders, even though she still had no idea what to do about Levi. Maybe she should just move on, act like her feelings towards him never happened.

Hange then said, "give him hell."

It was time for some training. They were all standing out by the woods with their maneuver gear on. Mikasa quickly looked at Levi, he had his gear on as well.

"Okay brats, whoever makes it at the end first wins by not having to clean for the next three days," he annouces, "alright, ready, set, go!"

Mikasa clips her gear on a tree and shes flying, moving fast. A fake titan pops out from behind a group of tree and she readies her blades, cutting a huge gash in its nape.
