Falling Down (Levi and Mikasa)

Chapter Sixteen

There was many less casualties during the expidition. Still the deaths of their comrades laid heavy in their hearts.

Levi took a walk around the grounds, feeling that weight of lost comrades. He felt it everytime. How he survived this long he doesnt know but. He'd be damned if didnt make their sacrifices worth it. So, thats what he has always done since that day he lost his friends, Isabel and Farlen.

As long as he could stand up and fight, no soldier's life will be in vain. He hates to think the next thing. It sounds too much like the brat Eren. He will eradicate all the titans. Not one will be left alive.

His mood lifted when he saw her. Her black hair moved with the summer breeze and when her eyes met his, her dark pupils smoldered. She starts to jog lightly to him.

"Levi," she says and the way she says his name makes him feel many things. The most prominent feeling is adoration and the warm emotion of love.

Levi scowls. How the hell did he get so corny?

Mikasa gives him a questionable look.

"Dont worry about it," the Captain tells her. He motions his head for her to follow him, "how are you feeling?"

"Fine."

"Good..." he pauses for quite a while, "i want to take you somewhere."

Mikasa notices a hint of pink on his cheeks but, the rest of his face showed no emotion to match it.

It takes a little bit of walk through the trees to reach it but, it was worth it. Wild flowers bloomed all around and right in the middle was an old fountain. It doesnt have any water in it though.

"Its beautiful," she says, amazed.

She watches him sit down at the foundation amd he pats a spot near him. She sits down amd grabs his hand. His thumb tracing circles on hers.

"I have a stupid question for you," it wasnt how Levi wanted to begin this but, his heart was pounding so hard and his mind was all jumbled up. Too many thoughts and even nervousness. If only he was as confident about this kind of stuff as he was fighting titans.

"Okay...?" She looks at him questionably.

He stands up. Maybe this is too soon. Will mikasa think so? Its stupid, in this kind of world they live in but, he knows he wants to be with her for however much longer they get to live. It might not even be too much time from now. It could happen tomorrow, a week, a month.

Levi bends down, one knee on the ground. Digging for something in his pocket.

Mikasa's eyes widen, "Levi...."

He found it hard to keep eye contact with her but, he forced himself anyways.

"Mikasa," and he pulls out the ring. It isnt anything fancy. Not even a single diamond, just a silver band but, she is a warrior and diamonds dont really seem to fit her, "will you.... marry me?"

Now he couldnt help look away. He looks at her hands instead. Her knuckes white from gripping her seat to hard.

A small gasp escapes her lips, a single tear rolling down her cheek. One of her hands lets go and she touches her cheek. She cant help but, smile.

Levi had the sudden urge to explain everything, "i know this is sudden and we have not been together for too long but, i know that you are the one i want to spend the rest of my life with, no matter how long or short it may be."

"Please look at me," she finally says.

He does, watching her reaction. Her voice was strained and scared but, her face said the truth.

"Yes," she breathes, "yes," and she hugs him tightly.

He leans against her, almost limp but, finally he wraps his arms around her and says, "thank goodness. I thought i was going to look like an idiot."

He rests her left hand in his and slides the ring on her finger and thinks you better not die on me.
