Falling Down (Levi and Mikasa)

Chapter Ten

It was the evening before the expedition. The three days went to fast. Mikasa was dreading it. Levi told her he'll have to leave the squad. She could tell he was reluctant about it and as the days went on, he became more emotionless. More like who he was. Pushing everyone away even her. Mikasa wondered what all he has been through. She knows the death of his squad before hurt him. He admitted that much.

She didnt see him last night, apparently he is busy with paperwork. He actually got far behind by spending time with her instead. She was going to see him tonight though.

Hange was sitting with mikasa and her friends. Still obsessed with titans and asking Eren way to many odd questions. Jean kept staring at her. It was pretty umcomfortable.

She waited to see Levi but, he never came. She sighs, feeling a little disappointed. He was so grouchy at training this morning.

Sasha is unsurprisingly munching on a patato, "i saw Levi leave your room again a few nights ago," she says to her.

"You didnt have to say anything to anyone about it though," she responds, clearly annoyed.

"I only told us at this table. I though it was okay because of the bet that was made. Which you are so winning. I really wanted the cinnamon raisen bread!" She complains.

"Sorry." I say with no emotion what so ever.

Hange grabs mikasa's hands, a small blush on her cheeks, "please tell me youve kissed. I tried getting an answer from Levi but, he not being very talkative. Please!"

Mikasa face heats up a tiny bit, "well, yeah he kissed me."

"Awe, hes growing up," she says, a single tear falls from her eye, she catches it with her hand though.

Jean tenses with the news.

"Anything else?" The girl in glasses asks.

"We held hands. He... seems to have difficultly letting people in."

She nods, "yes he does. When he first began the scouts, he had two friends with him. He obviously cared for them, they lived in the underground together. I hear he left them to kill Erwin. It was a job they got. He used to be a thug you see. After leaving them, he realized he passed a titan. He went riding back and found them dead. I guess he broke down, screaming and crying as he killed it."

It was quiet for a few moments.

Mikasa felt for him, her heart aching, "Levi..."

"The captain crying is hard to imagine," eren says.

Everyone agrees with him.

Hange turns to mikasa, her eyes filled with determination, "mikasa, promise me during this expedition you"ll live. You too Eren. All of us."

They all nod.

When dinner was over, she grabbed a tray of food and set a tea pot and some cups on it as well. Mikasa just opens Levi's door to his office. She sees him sitting in his chair.

He looks up at her for a second, "ackerman."

"Levi," she says.

"Not captain?"

"Do i have to?"

"You are a cadet."

"Its just us and im more than just that." She points out, setting the tray on his desk, "i brought you dinner and some black tea."

"I missed dinner?"

"Yes."

"Thank you," and he grabs the food. Eating it in small bites.
