Falling Down (Levi and Mikasa)

Chapter Twelve

Eerily there has been no titan sightings amd it didnt make mikasa feel any better. Something is not right here and she womder if the commander knew something more than what he was letting on.

Her thoughts strayed to Levi more than it probably should. He already left to go join commander Erwin. She could tell he was reluctant.

She hears Erens voice, "mikasa, so are you two together now?"

Mikasa turns slightly to look at his face, she just nods.

"Oh. It was sure a surprise. Last I knew you hated him."

"I did."

Eren smiles, "does that mean youll let me do my own thing and stop protecting me as much?" He sounded hopeful.

"No," and that one words crushes it but, she sighs, "i dont want to lose you or any of you."

"Just dont take on too much you cant handle," he warns, "we have to see the ocean together."

"Yes," she agrees, her heart pounding with that small hope, with all the people she cares about right there with her. There was no way she was going to let go of that dream easily.

We reach the woods spreading out even more. With eren still following close behind me. Its nice that we are in the same squad now. We jump off our horses, flying high up into the trees.

Commander Erwin, Hange, and Levi will be the ones to see about those titans. We are here to watch their back.

A hard breeze comes and she has to use the tree trunk to keep balance. Eren tries to do the same but, loses his balance. Making her let go and grab him before he falls.

"Be careful," she says.

He shrugs her off, "yeah, yeah."

The wind dies down ane now they just sit and wait for any sort of signal. Mikasa hopes Levi will be okay.

After what felt forever of complete silence, a loud crash was heard. From the distance, i see something big moving. It wasnt a titan though. Its a tree and its crashing down towards us.

"Eren!" Mikasa shouts, running towards him.

"Mikasa!"

"We have to go now. Run!" She wonders what the heck is going on. Is Levi okay?.

She grabs Eren with the tree barely misses them. They turn and watch it as it crashes to the ground. That sound will attract titans. She needs to find Levi.

"We need to go up there and check on the commander and Levi," mikasa says.

He nods. Who knows what happened over there, "they could be mad we are disobeying orders."

"They should be used to it by now, dont you think?"

The two of them fly through the air, swifting between trees. She wanted to go faster but, she couldnt leave Eren behind.

Mikasa finally saw him in the distance. His dark hair and his small stature. He was heading towards them.

"Levi!" She yells desperately.

He gets closer to them and lands on a branch. They land next to him. Hes glaring at the two, "shitty brats. What are you doing here? You should stay where you were stationed, cant you two ever follow orders?"

Mikasa thought quickly, "a big tree fell where we were standing. It was a close call."

He sighs, giving up.

"Wheres Erwin?" Eren asks.

"He went out with a few soldiers to check more things out. They followed the titan who knocked over that tree. The damned thing sure has a lot of strength," he was silent after that for a long time, not even looking at mikasa or eren.

"Captain, what should we do?" Eren finally speaks up.

"We wait," he plainly says.

"This is boring," he mumbles.

Levi sits down on the branch, "its orders. We are not here to kill titans. Our job is to spy for any weird actions. I dont want anybody dying today so, we are going to stay up here on these big ass trees. Got it?" He looks at us both.

They wouldnt dare say no. When Levi looks at mikasa for a few more moments, she wanted to run up to him, sit down, and rest her head on his shoulder but, it isnt the time and place for that.

"So why Erwin send you back instead of follow him?" Eren wonders.

"To make sure no idiot brats move from their positions," he states.

"Oh..." the titan shifter nervously laughs because they were those idiot brats.

A green flare suddenly shoots up to the sky.

"Time to go," the captain stands, launvhing off to leave the woods.

Mikasa and Eren, soundlessly follow behind him. Mikasa wonders if they found anything interesting and hoped Levi would spill some information to her. She shouldnt expect it though, shes still only a cadet, even if she has a special relationship with him.

It was like the world slowed down suddenly, a loud crack booming so close by. Levi turns and looks, as a hand reaches out to him.

Mikasa gasps, as she shoots forward, pushing him out of the way. The hand grabs her tightly, sqeezing. Levi's back slams into a tree, including the back of his head. The maneuver gear unclips from the tree and his unconscious body falls to the ground.

Eren doesnt know who to help first but, as mikasa is like family and shes in the hands of a titan, he hurries and cuts the titan hand off. He catches mikasa, sets her on a taller tree branch. She was breathing hard, a cold sweat on her forehead. Even though it was hard, she had to stay awake. She had to help Levi.

She starts to get up but, is pushed back down.

"Rest, I'll take care of him," eren tells her as he leaves the branch and head down to his captain. He debated if he should change into a titan or not.

He reaches the captain, hes completely knocked out. This is a problem and the titan is still alive. The spund of its scream when he cuts its hand off, will probably lure more titans this way.

He grabs captain Levi before the titan could get a hold of him. Eren sets him down next to mikasa. She is still awake and she crawls closer to the captain.

"Levi..." she rests her hand on his shoulder, shaking him gently.

"Hes knocked out."

"Thank you, Eren."

Eren notices that mikasa's eyes were glossed over. She looked weak. He assumes she injured pretty badly and they have to wait for the Captain to wake, before they can leave. He isnt going to leave them to find help, not when Levi is out and Mikasa injured.

He hoped the rest of the survey corps woukd come looking for them soon. Who knows what will happen if they stay here any longer.
