Chapter 4

Dan's POV
I've beaten Phil five times in a row at Mario kart. Suddenly he tackles me and ends up straddling me. He then suddenly leans down and kisses me. I'm too shocked to do anything. He suddenly pulls away and jumps back looking just as shocked as I am. He suddenly start to run out of my house and down the street. I decide that it's best to let him sort out his feelings then come talk to me.

Phil's POV
Unsure of what I am feeling I decide to run home and avoid my problems entirely. But I still can't stop thinking about dan and the kiss.

Two days later

I decide the only way I can continue my friendship with dan is to forget the kiss ever happened so I text him.
P: can we just forget the kiss ever happened?
D: why?
P: you know why you are my soulmate I promise myself as a kid I would never end up with my soulmate.
Suddenly dan stops replying I instantly start to worry as to why that is. Half an hour later I hear a knock on the door dan is there and he says sounding exasperated "why in the world don't you want to be with your soulmate so much." I then tell him my entire story and suddenly he starts smiling
"Why in the world are you smiling for" I ask him.
"Now I know why you don't want to be with me and I can promise you we will never turn out like your parents."
"How do you know"
"Because we aren't your parents we won't turn out like them"
He sounds so reassuring. I believe him for a second letting all my walls down. I try rebuilding them but the he hugs me and tears them down again. He is so comforting I decide that I can give this soulmate thing a shot.
"Okay" I reply shakily
Then dan suddenly looks up at me with so much joy like a little boy on Christmas Day. I can't help but be a little happy just by looking at him.
He suddenly kisses me with so much love and I can finally let myself kiss back. It was the most incredible thing I felt fireworks. I can't wait to try this thing out.

Dans POV
After the kiss I stayed and talked for a bit but it was getting dark so I had to return home the first thing I did was call Louise and tell her the good news. As soon as she pick up the phone I yell excitedly "Phil finally agreed to give me a chance"
"that is awesome Congratulations"
"Yeah it only took a couple of months us being just friends even though it felt like a lifetime"
"Have you asked him out on a date yet"
"no I'm going to text to see if we can this weekend after I talk to you"
"Well I won't keep you then bye"
"Bye"
I then go text Phil.
D: do you want to go on a date this weekend?
P: sure what time?
D: is five o'clock good for you?
P: perfect see you then ;)
D: okay ;)

The date
Phil's POV
I could not figure out what to wear. Oh no I sound like a teenage girl. After tearing apart my room for an hour and a half I decided on my grey sweater with foxes on them because it was a bit chilly outside and black jeans of course. Then I spent another hour straightening my hair to be just perfect. Then I hear a knock on the door and see dan there with chocolate covered coffee beans. As he hands them to me he says "I thought you would like these better than flowers"
I laugh and respond "definitely"
We then walk and he opens the door for me being a gentlemen. He then drives us to a nice cafe with amazing waffles. We sit down at a table and talk and eat for hours. He drives me home and walks me to my door and kisses me again. I love his kisses so much I'm not sure how I ever lived without them. Every time I feel fireworks. I then go inside and get ready for bed. I go to sleep with the biggest smile. The next morning I see a letter from the uni it's about the exchange program I signed up for I was chosen to spend five years in America since I wanted to get my masters degree. I smiled it had always been a dream of mine to live in the states for a while I was just nervous about how dan would react. We just started dating and I was already falling for him. But I knew I couldn't turn it down it was such an amazing opportunity. So I got dressed and headed to dans house to tell him. I was so nervous as I rang the door bell. When dan answered I smiled awkwardly as he let me inside. We went up to his room.
"We need to talk" I said.
His smile instantly dropped into a worried face "what about" he replied.
"I signed up for the exchange program at the uni the first week and I was chosen to spend five years in the states"
"what"
"I'm sorry but I have to take this opportunity I have always wanted to live in the states I have to leave after the summer"
"That's only a few months away"
"I'm sorry"

3rd person POV
They spent their last few months of summer spending as much time together as humanly possible it was a sad day when Phil had to leave. They both cried a lot of tears that day. As Phil's plan took off to take him thousands of miles away from his loving soulmate.
