Johanna
When Cato proposed to Peeta, the whole damn town of Plum Greek went nuts! This was the first time an openly gay couple were getting married in the city, and every church in the city wanted to host the wedding.
Cato, however, adhered to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and this meant that Our Lady of The Rosary Catholic Church was to be the place of the wedding. They should actually call it a big ass cathedral but yea, why tell them?
Anyways, as Peeta was Jewish and there was no synagogue in Plum Creek, a special Reform Jewish rabbi was being called over all the way from Ashbury to administer the Jewish rites of the service. This was also aided by my family, who is predominantly. Russian Orthodox but they have a Jew in the bunch in the form of my uncle, who told the rabbi if he dared object to two boys getting married, he would object to donating money to the synagogue...and did I mention that uncle is Claudius Templesmith, the mayor of Ashbury?
Anyways, the whole gang got together at my place and we decided on what to do to make this wedding much more than just a courthouse certificate.
Katniss, the party lover of us all, decided that the reception should be held at the bakery, like the party we held all those months ago to celebrate Cato and Peeta coming out of the closet. We all agreed to this but we wanted to make this much more different than the last party.
"I suggest we use the Hunger Games celebrations from long ago as our inspiration." Clove decided.
"And what are those?" Courtney asked.
"Oh, thats right, she doesn't know about those..." I said.
"What?" Courtney asked.
"The Hunger Games took place long ago when this was known as Panem, hence the name of our school. They were like the Olympics only you had to kill people in an open arena with God knows what environment the Capitol created. The whole of North America was split into twelve districts, a thirteenth supposedly lost to history. However, this girl shortcircuited the arena during the Quarter Quell Games that were held every 25 years and then the whole country went into revolution l. Her face, or more importantly, her mockingjay pin, was the symbol for war against the corrupt Capitol system. The Capitol soon fell though, and all we have is the remains of Victors Villages and Justice Buildings to link us to that time." Katniss explained.
"The celebrations of the Hunger Games, though, were very pively and loaded with an overabundance of food. The mockingjay will hang on a sheet above the newlyweds, and it will be the primary design of the party." Clove reiterated.
"What does one look like?" Courtney asked.
"Look at this piece of history." I sais as I pulled the old necklace from my pocket.
"Oh, it is beautiful!" Courtney exclaimed.
"This was the very one the imfamous girl wore as a pin that I keep now as a necklace." I said.
Courtney handed it back to me in surprise. Obviously her mind was blown.
"Well, now that its all settled, let us get to it." I said as we began work.
Peeta
The ring fit me perfectly, and Cato had truly surprised me.
"Do you like it?" he asked me.
"Yes, baby, I do." I smiled as I played with it. We were sitting in the park under a tree, and Cato was holding me in his arms while I fiddled with my ring.
"Tomorrow we are getting married before God and everyone. Are you ready?" he asked me.
"Cato, I am beyond ready. It is time that we did get married." I answered him.
