J U D G I N G - C R I T E R I A
These awards will have a total of two rounds before the winner is announced, Qualifier and Championship.
1. midnightcupofnoodles will read two chapters of every book to determine whether it could qualify for the shortlist.
2. This round will focus on grammar, spelling, and punctuation; basically, if your story is well edited, there's a good chance of it moving on. Cliché? So what? It matters not. But more than five spelling mistakes, misplaced dialogue tags or incorrect punctuation, it will be discarded. We're looking for serious authors, and if can't make the effort to find a good editor for TWO CHAPTERS, we're not sure this award is meant for you.
3. If it passes the basic test - and hopefully, most books will - another unnamed judge will look at it in terms of appeal and uniqueness.
Overall, two judges in the first round, reading two chapters each.
3. The top ten books will be shortlisted by 15th of the month. This round will be crude, cruel and crass in terms of eliminating most books. Only the best will be selected.
4. No limit on the number of books that can enter as long as it is before the deadline.
1. In this round, you'll be competing with the cream of the genre who have gone through the initial shortlisting process along with you.

a. Cover and Summary (5 marks each)

c. Grammar and Punctuation(5 marks each)
d. Sentence Structure and Paragraphing (5 marks each)
e. Plot Development
f. Character Development

3. There will be two kinds of judges: Chosen Ones and Hidden Ones.
a. Chosen Ones (Primary Judges): 2 primary judges, reading all the shortlisted entries - 10 books. They are permanent and will remain unidentified to prevent bias.
b. Secondary Judges: (The Hidden Ones): There will be 4-6 secondary judges each month who will read 5 books of the shortlisted contestants (in a random order). These will change each month and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
Overall, there will be 4+ judges in this round, reading five chapters of your book.
4. Based on the overall average scoring, the top three books will win First, Second and Third prizes for that genre.
