There was some type of formidable anguish in the empty thick air. Not so much as a whisper broke the noiseless night. Two sat in silence, side by side, watching the water sway in the brushing of wind over water. It was a simple silence of thought and patience. It was an 'everything will be okay' silence.

„I'm hoping." Taehyung was the first to break the silence and to move the still water. He held Kook's body in the water, cupping water in his palms to drizzle over his skin. „that things will get better." He went on to explain, clearing his mind as he stared distantly, gliding his fingers across the smooth tainted skin of the boy laying in his arms.

„Why do you want things to get better when he has hurt you?" Seokjin asked, purely out of curiosity for he never wanted Kook to get hurt. But neither did he want Taehyung to fall into something he wasn't prepared for. Kook wasn't a love to be taken lightly, he was the most fragile love anyone could ever have, already frayed by the fall.

„Because I know he has so much potential to love. Maybe right now I am not happy now, but I want to be. I want to be happy with him." Taehyung ceased his acts of caressing Kook's cheeks, looking up through frightened eyes. „Seokjin, how can I be happy with someone I'm so scared of?" Seokjin smiled, feeling a sense of nurture for the boy who looked so confused staring down at the other boy in his arms.

„You could think about why you are scared. What is it about Kook that scares you most? Then you can think of the reasons not to be so afraid. Contradict your mind." Why am I scared? His grip grew slack on Kook now slipping deeper into the water as he passed the thought over in his mind, gazing at Seokjin who watched the sky shift in darkness. Then a tight grip on his thigh caused a shrill yelp to escape his lips and his body to jerk back. His eyes shot to the body beneath the shallow, ice cold blanket of suffocation. Kook was shrivelled up on the river's swirling floor, the sand dancing around his body as the bubbles of his slowly dying breath burst on the surface.

Taehyung immediately thrust his hands out, gripping onto the struggling boy and pulling him up to the surface. In the midst of his panic, Seokjin had screamed several profanities and something along the lines of finding Namjoon. Then he jumped from the body of water and disappeared into the forest. He left Taehyung to clutch onto the drowning boy whose lungs had filled with water and eyes were drooping fast.

„Stay with me!" Taehyung pleaded, dragging him towards the bank and throwing his body to the sand as Kook rolled into his side choking and spluttering. He was trying to breathe but was incapable of doing so. Taehyung crawled forward, pulling him onto his back and pushing his hair out of his eyes. „Fuck. Why can't you just breathe..." he muttered, shaking his shoulders desperately.

After staring at the boy for ten seconds, his eyes trailed to the cold parted lips that were so familiar to him. Then his mind began to work on its own as his left hand tugged on the boy's soft jaw and his right rested gently on the his nose. Then, Taehyung pulled Kook's head back so that his mouth was open wide enough and his airways weren't blocked. He exhaled slowly, then inhaled before he pinched the boy's nose and leant forward slowly.

Kook's lips were soft as he remembered them, and if the the circumstances had of been different it would have been all he could think about. But he shut his eyes and exhaled into his mouth, trying to push the air into Kook so that he could hopefully draw the water from his lungs. He repeated the procedure five times before removing his lips and checking to see Kook's chest rising slowly. Relief surged through him as he pushed more air into his mouth before resting back on his knees as the boy began to splutter and cough up the water now pooling in his throat, unaware of his saviour sitting just inches from his side.
