Sounds of sobbing echoed through the cold and drafty attic of the macmillan household.

"W-why do i have t-to sleep in the attic?" Sobbed Evangeline "A-and why did y-you give all my things to camilla?"

"Because, Orphan, you will begin a new life. No more nimbus 2000 or quidditch. And the tickets for the top box your father bought for the quidditch world cup, will be ours. We will invite guests to come with us to the world cup. Not you or your pathetic friends. And your owl is cameron's now." Snarled Trinade Yaxley, Evangeline's stepmother.

"What did I ever do to you to deserve this?! These are my father's! You have no rights. I want my life back now!" Growled Evangeline

"No" said Trinade "I am your guardian. I am responsible for you. I will not give you your riches back"

Evangeline cried more.

"And where's the key to your father's gringott's vault, camilla needs to buy dress robes" snapped Trinade

"I will not give you the key to my father's vault" Evangeline said simply

"Give it now. Or you will regret it big time" Trinade growled

"No" said Evangeline

"Fine then. Have it your way" said Trinade "Crucio!"

Pain soared through Evangeline's body. As if a thousand knives were stabbing her continuously

"No, please stop!" Screamed Evangeline

"I will if you give me the key" Said trinade.

Then a boy ran upstairs to the attic and opened the door.

"Mother, Stop!" Said the boy

"Oh hush cameron, do not pity her, she's getting what she deserves"

"The aurors are coming!" Screeched a girl who came in after cameron

"Oh no" said Trinade.

"Evangeline, listen. Tell them that i used the cruciatus curse on that spider because it was going to bite you. Or else I'll throw you out on the streets" said Trinade as she lifted the curse

"F-fine" said Evangeline, her body still aching from the curse

When the aurors got to the attic, Evangeline lied and defended trinade. They only fined trinade ten galleons but nothing more.

When the aurors left, trinade began to speak.

"Now you will be in charge of cleaning the house, no magic whatsoever!" Snapped trinade
"When you become of age, i will take you out of hogwarts, education will not be needed because you will serve me as long as i live" she cackled, handing Evangeline a feather duster.

Tears flooded Evangeline's eyes as she took the feather duster from Trinade.

"Begin dusting the grandfather clock" Trinade said in a lazy matter "Then you will tidy up all the rooms in this house"

"Why did you give the house elf CLOTHES?!" Screeched Evangeline

"Because I cannot handle seeing two filthy creatures in this house, one is more than enough" seethed Trinade  "Now Begin your work, you only have a fortnight until we get to hogwarts"

Evangeline sighed heavily. It's going to be the longest two weeks of her life.
