Evangeline did her best to hide the horrified look on her face as she looked in the mirror.
It has been two months since she arrived to school, and yet harry potter being a champion in the triwizard tournament was the least surprising to her. The First task is set for the next day, the yule ball next month yet the only thing Evangeline could think of is George Weasley. The only thought that went through her mind is that George Weasley cannot see her in that dress.
Extremely long, ruffled and ugly was the only thing that could describe the dress, and it didn't come as a surprise since Helen wasn't exactly known for her sense of fashion.
But Evangeline was eternally grateful that Helen thought of her, and actually bought her a dress. As an act of gratitude for her friend, Evangeline kept her mouth shut.Moments later, Helen walked in wearing the Exact same dress, but in a deep maroon color. Somehow, it looked even worse than Evangeline's.
"We look smashing" Helen said in awe, turning around cheerfully. Evangeline could only force a smile. "You will wear it right?" Helen asked her excitedly. Due to her lack of options and a tendency to be polite, Evangeline agreed.Evangeline got dressed and decided to go see where George was, she was determined to ask him to the yule ball, though she only found out about it by eavesdropping on Flitwick and McGonagall. Then, she decided it was a stupid idea and went to stalk him instead, big mistake on her behalf.
As she followed George into the empty corridor, she excitedly thought about how she was going to have some alone time with him, perhaps he'd kiss her again, or even better, ask her to be his girlfriend. Evangeline hurriedly hid behind a wall so she can't be seen, it would be weird for George to catch her stalking him.
Unfortunately for Evangeline, George already had company. A tall, average looking brunette already took to snogging him in the empty corridor.
"Oh bri, whatever shall we do if we get caught, it's so risky" George smirked
"Then we take it even further" The girl breathed and pushed him against the wall.Unable to watch them any longer, Evangeline picked herself up and fled the corridor, tears forming in her eyes.
While running, she crashed into none other than the famous harry potter, who looked like he was going to be sick.
"Are you alright?" Harry asked politely, while holding out his hand.
"Fine thanks" Evangeline smiled "Ready for the first task tomorrow?"
Stress looked like it took it's toll on poor potter, the sweat was dripping from his forehead and he looked like he hasn't eaten in weeks.
"Yes" Harry said, while the forced smile was prominent on his face, it seemed like he was going to reach his breaking point.Without uttering another word, he hurried off leaving Evangeline standing in the corridor all alone. She could do nothing more than cry in that moment, it was like she could not move a muscle. Was a small crush worth this much? She asked herself. Picking herself up, she decided that she was going to forget about George Weasley once and for all.
She then ran to the library and climed the ladder. Unsure of why she did that, she decided to pick a dusty book peeking behind "Illustra, the purple witch" off the shelf. The cover of the book read "The fae", there was no cover art, just a shabby wood-like book twice the size of any book she's ever seen. She took her seat in the back of the library, and began reading.
"The fae, or commonly known as fairies, are respectable entities that exist to simply do as they please, and many fae vary from one another. Some fae are tricksters, others have a tendency to help people, especially young females." Evangeline read curiously "Fae that help young females can sometimes be dubbed 'Fairy godmothers' and can give help to young girls who wish it, just leave a note and an offering and you're good to go, though sometimes they can give you help in ways you least expect it"
Evangeline would have finished reading, if it weren't for Helen interrupting her.
"What are you reading?" Helen asked curiously "The fae? What a bunch of rubbish" She laughed "Even in witchcraft this is just considered muggle folklore, now let's head to the great hall it's lunch time, then we'll finish tomorrow's homework afterwards, it is sunday, after all" Helen grabbed Evangeline's hand and lead her to the great hall.Evangeline and Helen took their seats next to neville longbottom and Sylvia rosier on the Gryffindor table.
"How are Leo and Lyra" Helen asked Sylvia while biting into a chicken leg.
"Well you know they got completely disowned last year" Sylvia sighed "Our parents went crazy when we told them about the whole not liking their pureblood cult, they left and took me with them even though i'm only their half sister"
"God i miss their parties in the common room" Helen groaned "Remember when Lyra and Professor lupin got drunk and started belly dancing" she snickered "I can't get the image of Lupin's stripping out of my head"
Sylvia gave her a smile, and returned to her mashed potatoes."Belly dancing?" Evangeline laughed "That must been quite a sight"
Helen was about to reply, but instead noticed that Evangeline was looking elsewhere.
Her gaze was set on George Weasley whispering something into Brianna skippy's ear, and her blushing and giggling in response.Nothing was said, the only thing that happened that afternoon was Evangeline eating her peas and carrots.
