TEN

I glanced at the clock seeing that it was eight in the morning. My doctor and my nurse usually came by my room to check up on me and inform me of any changes or news. I wasn't in my room, though, I was in Autumn's room. We'd stayed up all night once again talking. I was a bad influence because she slept less but I couldn't help it. It was much more fun to be awake when other people weren't and we got to watch as the sun crept up. Who didn't like that?

I slowly detangled her arm from mine and positioned it so it wouldn't hurt her when she woke up. I tucked her in and then slowly crept back to my room before any nurses or doctors came searching the halls for me. I opened the door to my room quietly and slowly stepped in seeing that I wasn't the only one in the room. My mom, my doctor and my nurse were all there looking a bit worried. All the worry seemed to wash away when their eyes landed on me.

"I was worried sick about you, where were you?"  my mom said as soon as I was at my bed. I didn't answer—I just looked around at the three figures in my room. My mom's hair was messy and so were her clothes, indicating that she came to the hospital in a rush. The nurse was everything but amused. She didn't seem to like her job that much and I didn't blame her. Being bossed around by a doctor who pretended to know just about everything wasn't all that entertaining. My eyes finally rested on the doctor who didn't seem to care about my mom being worried but rather what he wanted to tell me and I was more interested in that too. It had to be something big if it required my mom getting up this early on her day off.

"What's up?" I asked the doctor, earning a glare from my mom but a few moments later, she forgot about me and focused on the doctor and what he was about to say.

"You've been given a wish by the Make a Wish Foundation," the doctor began slowly. "I've already signed the paperwork that qualifies you for the wish and all you need to do is tell me what it is. I'll, of course, give you a few days to mull it over and when you're ready, just ask the nurse here to call for me."

I stayed silent but I could feel my mom grin. She was happy for me but in my head, I came up with fifty billion thoughts of how it could go so terribly wrong. I was an indecisive person and choosing a wish was going to be a tough job.
