Chapter 14

Third person's POV:

"Congratulations!" Said Evie.

"Yeah congrats, Mal!" Said Dizzy.

"How do you feel?" Evie asked Mal.

"I don't know." Said Mal. Mal was having mixed emotions. Does Ben want this? Will everyone hate us for having a kid so young? Will I be just like my mother to them?

Mal's POV:
My breathing quickened.

"Well congrats!" Said Evie.

"No! This is terrible!" I yelled.

"It's not!" She said.

"I don't know." I said once again. I sat on Evie's bed.

"Call me if you need anything at all. Dizzy let's go." Said Evie. Dizzy gathered her things and put them in a backpack.

"Where are you guys going?" I asked.

"We're going to design some things." She said.

I nodded. "Ah."

"See you later." Evie and Dizzy walked out of the door and closed it. I didn't know what to do, so I turned the TV on and changed the channel to the Auradon news.

"This just in. There's a rumor going around that Evie Queen is pregnant."

I mouth fell open.

"She was seen buying a pregnancy test from the store."

I picked up my phone. I dialed Evie's number.

Evie: Hello?

Mal: Evie!

Evie: What's wrong?

Mal: There's a rumor going around saying you're pregnant!

Evie: What?! How?!

Mal: Apparently someone saw you buy the test.

Evie: Does it say who?!

Mal: No.

Evie: Oh man. Doug's gonna think I cheated on him! I have to tell him you're the one that's pregnant!

Mal: No! No one can know!

Evie: Doug can keep a secret! Mal, if I don't tell him he's gonna think I cheated on him!

Mal: Ok fine. You can tell Doug. But tell him that no one else can know! And I'm serious! I mean no one!

Evie: .....ok.

Mal: So what are we gonna do?

Evie: We're gonna see a doctor together. We'll tell Ben after we see the doctor.

Mal: Ok when are you available?

Evie: Uh...how's tomorrow at two?

Mal: Perfect. Thanks, E.

Evie: You're welcome. See you later.

I hung up and put my phone back down. I turned off the TV and went back to the castle to see if Ben was back.

"How are you today, Queen Mal?" Asked one of the guards.

"I'm fine. How are you?" I asked him.

"I'm fine too. King Ben is in his office." He said.

"Ok. Thanks." I bowed and walked up the stairs to Ben's office. I knocked twice.

"It's unlocked!" He yelled. I twisted the doorknob and slowly opened the door.

"Hey, Dragon." He said.

"Hey, Ben." I walked up to his desk and sat in the chair pulled up in front. I felt so guilty to be hiding something from him. Especially something this big.

"Where have you been?" He asked. He looked me directly in the eyes, making me feel even more guilty.

"Uh...Evie and Dizzy's dorm." I said.

"Are you ok?" He asked.

"Uh yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"

"Because you're shaking like crazy." He said. I looked down at my hands, which were shaking and bumping against his desk. I put them under his desk so he wouldn't see it.

"They're not." I lied.

He put his hands under the desk and put my hands in his.

"They are. Now tell me what's wrong." He said.

You know what. He should know. "Alright Ben. The truth is--"

My phone started to ring. Saved.

"It's Evie. I'll talk to you later." I said. I got up and ran outsidd of his office.

"Evie. Hey." I said.

"Mal. Hey. Uh, I wanted to check on you. Since you're...y'know."

"Yeah. I'm fine."

"That's nice."

"Does Doug know about...me?"

"Yes. I told him. His lips are sealed."

"I hope."

"They are. Call me if you need anything. I can't wait for my princess to be born!"

"Whoa! Princess?"

"Or prince. But I hope it's a princess. I'd be happy either way though."

"I'm pretty sure Jay wants a boy. Speaking of 'Jay', do Jay and Carlos know?"

"I uh...might've told Jay."

"Evie! No one else can know! Wait. Does anyone else know?!"

"Carlos."

"Ugh! Evie! You have to keep your mouth shut about this."

"Ok."

"I gotta go."

"Bye."

I hung up and put the phone back in my pocket. Then I walked to my bedroom.

I flopped on my bed face first and turned on the TV. It was the news again.

Reporter 1: So is Evie Queen really pregnant? Is it just a rumor? Maybe she bought the test for a friend?

Reporter 2: Maybe she did buy it for a friend.

Reporter 3: What friend?

Reporter 2: Queen Mal?

Reporters 1&2: Queen Mal?!

I felt scared.

Reporter 1: Stay tuned.

I turned the TV off and closed my eyes and took a nap.
