There was a thump, and to the ground I was pulled. At first I thought that maybe I was dying, and the exceptional pain from hitting the concrete floor of the super market, made it feel that way as well. There was a gurgle and I felt a warm liquid drip over my back. Standing up, almost falling over again, I noticed that Ava had thrown her hatchet in to back of Kenny. He was spitting up blood and was already starting to turn. I ended it just before he could.

I held the bloody knife in my hands and studied it. I killed a human being. A human-fucking-being. The other marine just sat there holding his knee and occasionally grunting or moaning because of the pain. I looked at him and he looked at me. He then spit at me. I wiped the spit from my face and smiled.

"So. What are you actually doing here?" I ask him. Fiddling with the knife in my hand. I make a pretty good evil person because he was traumatized.

"We were sent to kill any survivors that have been exposed to any of the spores." He said. He looked around for a second and then grabbed something off his belt. My first instinct was to raise my knife to his throat. He then pushed the knife aside, not caring one bit and held out a device.

"We were just trying to scan you guys to see if you were okay. We honestly didn't think there would be any survivors, but once we saw you guys heading down the street we got excited. There will be a new squad taking over our position in 30 minutes. You guys should leave." He said.

I looked at him. He grabbed my shoulder.

"The next group wont be so happy when they get here. So go."

I looked at Ava, she was breathing heavily and holding her leg. I walked over to her and picked he up. I looked at Fenix, who was still aiming at the other marine, and started walking to the exit. When we got there Fenix was right behind us, his guard higher than ever. We walked back to the compound. When we got there I sat Ava in a medical bed and some lady came over and started treating her wound.

"One hell of a day." Fenix said, sighing. So I responded the best I could.

"Yep."

Sorry that it was such a short chapter. Didn't have a lot of time on my hands and didn't know where else to go with it. Read the next part when it comes out. Because its going to be good. Thanks for reading and please, stick around.
