The dorms echo hollowed. White light from the snow outside brighten the rooms and halls. The holidays are looming over them, and most students have cleared out for the holy time with family.
"Hey. Bailey!" Chase catches up to her in the corridor of the dorms. "Are you staying?"
She nods, letting him walk beside her.
"My parents had a thing." She leaves at that and he doesn't question it.
"Yeah, I'm staying too." He states, walking her to her room.
When the early night fall they leave the dorms. Lance stands waiting, wrapped up in a warmer jacket, and on Bailey's stone stands a steel thermos and a bottle of red wine. Chase rolls the joint, Bailey pours up coffee and Lance takes a swing from the bottle.
The embers of the cigarette glows in the dark. The time has at some point been established to be 8 pm, but how long ago that was they don't know. The wine bottle is since long empty.
"When I'm done here I'm going to leave." Bailey is lying on her back, her soles perched on the stone. "Just go. There's nothing for me here."
"Yeah." Chase agrees, his coat has fallen open over the trunk, his eyes are as dark as the sky he is looking up into and just as strewn full with specks of light. "Me too."
"When you two leave so will I." Lance states, his voice hoarse from exhaustion.
They stay like that, embedded in snow, until the high no longer can make them forget the cold.
