I got tired of putting up with the bunch of dumbasses from the rescue team, so after I gave the pilot a piece of my mind, and my fist, then I hopped in my car, and decided to take the search on a more personal level, by driving all the back roads that surrounded the entire desert. It was going to take a very long time by car, but I was determined...I was going to find my brother, and he was going to be ok, so I could take him back to Mama D and his brothers in one piece...I had to because I promised Mama D that I would find him for her...and, to be honest...I couldn't imagine life without my brother...and I didn't want to.

I started out on the furthest roads out and worked my way into the city, then without taking a break I took the other roads and just kept making huge widening circles until I almost went on empty on the ole gas tank, then I would take a drink, piss, and fill up break then I was on it all over again...and I did that all day and most of the night, and when I got tired, I just pulled my ass over and slept in the car, so I could start where I left off the night before. I called Mama D and talked with her as I was searching in between times just to hear some other voices other than my own...because to tell you the truth I was beginning to hate what the crazy bastard was saying...telling me that I was too late and my brother was dead, and I failed mama D and myself.

After I hung up the phone I slapped myself in the face and told my inner self to shut the hell up because he was so wrong...and I wasn't going to give up at all. So for the next three days, I was on the back roads that ran thru the deserts, hoping and praying that I could see any signs of life along the roadsides...anywhere. I was just about to go down the right road instead of the left road at the T...but I glanced in my rearview mirror and noticed a white sheet flying in the air down the left road...I quickly did a U-turn and sped down the road doing fishtails all the way down the road until I pulled up to the sheet.

I quicker than a bolt of lightning was out of the car and checking it out...I pulled the sheet slowly out of the way and wrapped in the blanket trying to stay out of the sun, was Criss and a girl holding him...they were both unconscious...and majorly dehydrated, I grabbed him first because he was on top of her, and noticed a dead bird tied to his leg, I laid him in the back seat and quickly turned on the AC. Then I went over and as I picked up the girl she opened her eyes and tried to speak, I told her she was safe now...but she kept trying to tell me something...so I leaned in to her lips, and listened as she told me that Criss needed to go to the hospital he was bitten by a sidewinder several days ago, and her remedies weren't doing much good anymore.

As soon as I heard her say snake bite I gently placed her in the front seat and peeled down the road back towards the city...I drove 100 mph the entire way there while on the phone with the hospital so they would be ready by the time I got there...then I called mama D, and Criss's brothers and told them that I found him, and he was still alive! And I was heading to the hospital to get him and the girl taken care of, then before I hung up with her, I told her that Criss was in bad shape...because he was bitten by a Sidewinder...she panicked and asked me what that was, I looked at the speedometer, and told her it was a desert rattlesnake. I hung up the phone and looked in the rearview mirror and told my brother to hang in there that help was on its way for him...that he couldn't leave me know...not after fighting and surviving for so long in the desert.

I looked over at the girl as she was slowly waking up again...and asked her what her name was. She jumped up and hollered for Criss, I touched her hand and told her that he was safe in the back seat, and I was taking them both to the hospital. She hopped in the back seat and held onto his hand as she laid his head on her lap...she looked up at me and said I needed to go faster because he wasn't breathing!! I looked at her again as I sped up, and noticed a few tears falling down her face, and told her not to give up on him, that I wasn't going to let him die.

I saw the hospital entrance and jumped the curve and headed straight for the front doors, I was out of the car even before it fully stopped, and pulled Criss out of the car and told her to wait for me, and I would come back out and get her...but she held onto Criss's hand and weakly walked with me...I had to admire her inner strength and spirit...I put Criss on the bed in the empty room and hollered for the doctor to get his ass in here asap! Just as I looked at the girl, she closed her eyes and I took a wild dive to catch her just before she hit the concrete floor in the hospital room...I gave her a hug and told her she did just fine, and know it was time for the doctors to take care of her and Criss. I carried her to the other bed and when the doctor and two nurses came into the room I told them what was going on with both of them and they began to work their magic on them.
