I was pacing the hallway while the doctor was in the emergency room with Criss, checking out his leg, the nurses laughed when they saw him remove the dead bird from his leg. But the doctor shook his head in personal agreement as he turned around to look at Kc that was laying on the bed behind them. Then he looked down at Criss's leg and told them both that whoever put this bird on his leg probably not only saved him from losing his leg...but saved his life. The nurse looked over at him and asked how he figured that...as he began treating Criss's leg, he told both of his nurses what the bird was used for and that it was an Indian remedy of old and was a natural succulent, and the raw meat from the bird actually drew out the venom from the bite.

I kept walking the halls and looking in the window every few minutes, just to see if I could see what was going on by the expressions of the doctors and nurses faces...but they didn't tell me anything. I was just about to go into the room and ask them, when Mama D, Costa, and Jd came barrelling thru the doors asking where and how Crisstopher was doing...and if he was even still alive. I wrapped my arms around her and told her that the doctors were working on his leg right now, and as far as I knew, he was still very much alive...then I added that so was the girl that kept him alive long enough for me to find, and rescue them.

Mama D looked up at me with a little shocked from me telling her that, I smiled at her and told her that was right, Criss was able to come back to us, because of a girl refusing to let him die...and she was in the room with him now getting IV treatments in her system because she was very badly dehydrated even more so than Criss, because she made sure he had most of the water, so he could keep hydrated because of the snake bite. JD and Costa went to the door and looked in the window, to see their brother with tubes and IV's all over him. The doctor and nurses came out and told me that the girl saved Criss's life, that thanks to her quick thinking and keeping the snakebite clean and taken care of...she was quite the little heroine.

I grabbed the doctors arm and asked him if they were going to be alright, he looked down at his paperwork and said that Criss was going to be just fine, that there was minimal venom in his system, and thanks to the bird that was on his leg, the venom stayed down close to where he was bitten, instead of spreading throughout his body. Mama D quickly asked the doctor if she could go in and see her little boy, and I asked the doctor how the girl was doing. He gave me a slight smile and said that she was just severely dehydrated but as soon as they hydrated her with the IV's she would be just fine, then added that she was awake and that I could go in and see her if I wanted to.

I thanked him, as we all walked into the room...they headed to Criss's bed as I walked over to the girl's bed and sat down in the chair beside her, and asked her how she was feeling. She slowly sat up and said her entire body felt like dried out the sandpaper. Then she quickly changed the subject and asked where and how Criss was...I noticed the panic in her voice, and I gave her a smile and slid the divider's curtain out of the way and showed her that he was safe and sound right next to her. She gave a smile of relief, as she saw him and she laid back down. She turned to me and asked for my name because she couldn't remember if I told her and she just forgot it. I held out my hand to her and told her I was Klayton, a very close brother/friend to Criss.

She looked over at me and as she accepted my hand she told me her name was Kc. I leaned over to her and kissed her on the forehead and whispered thank you in her ear for saving my brother, and getting him to the road where I could bring him back to his family that needed and loved him. She gave me a slight smile and said if the tables were turned and it was her that was bitten Criss would have done the same for her. I gave her a gentle pat on the shoulder and told her I knew he would because my brother had a weakness for helping beautiful damsels in distress.

Kc jumped up in the bed again and asked me if she managed to save his leg, from being cut off, because she knew the venom was really damaging his leg. I gave her a reassuring smile and told her that whatever she did for him in the desert it really paid off, because not only was he going to live, his leg was going to still be attached to his crazy ass. Mama D came over to where I was sitting and talking with Kc. Kc looked up at her as she bent down and gave her a hug as she cried and thanked her for saving her little boy and bringing him home and back to her. Kc hugged her back and told her she was welcome, then added in all honesty that she may have saved Criss...be he also saved her in return.

JD gave Criss a kiss on the forehead, and said he needed to get back to the hotel to be with his wife, then looked to Costa and said he needed to get to his fiance as well because she was extremely pregnant, and very touchy about him not letting her know about Criss. Costa snickered and said he couldn't help it...he truly loved his soon to be wife Kimmy...then he looked at us all and asked if we thought Criss would like his fiance or not. JD smacked his brother on the back and said we all would know soon enough...because the doctor said that Criss would be awake and responsive by tomorrow afternoon sometime. Before they left I gave Mama D a kiss on the forehead and told her she needed to go back to the hotel, and rest...and that I would stay at the hospital, and let them know about any changes. After they left, I sat down in the chair again and had a nice long conversation with Kc about all her and Criss's ventures in the desert.
