Chapter 12

Chance

I picked out a nice suit for this little outing. This going to be.. fun. I know my parents will be discussing money the whole time, maybe I'll use this "chance" to get to know Mai a little better. My parents should be picking me up pretty soon. I just sat on the sofa waiting for my parents to get here. And once I sat down, I heard the gate buzzer ring.

"Welp, I better get going."

(Skip to the time at the restaurant.)

"And he said a thousand dollars is to much," my parents said laughing.

Yeah I new they were going to find a way to incorporate money in this conversation. Actually in any conversation. I was across from Mai at this fine dining restaurant. Mai and had small talk, occasionally joining in on my parents conversation.

It wasn't as entertaining as I thought. I'll try talking to Mai and she usually answers with "yeah", but when I start to ask questions about her, then she runs her mouth. I am just patiently waiting for this day to be over. At this point we have all finished our food and my parents are still talking.

"Mom, dad." I said slowly standing up. Once I grabbed their attention I continued on.

"Mai and I are going to head out now. It seems that you guys are pretty deep in conversation."

"Oh okay sweetie. We'll contact you soon." Mom said, dad saying the causal goodbye.

While they weren't paying attention, I was able to snag their car key. Wasn't about to wait for an uber. Gives them too much time for them to come running after us. I looked over to Mai and we left the restaurant. The only talking I did to her is me asking her if she wanted me to drive her to her house. She insisted on coming here with me. When am I going to be able to go over to her house?

Tessa (1 hour earlier)

So finding jobs are pretty hard, but I have settled on a fast food place or a retail store. So it's a pick between Subway and Nordstrom. It doesn't really matter anyway, I put an entry for both, it's really on whoever get's it to me first.

 I still had some money so I went to go buy me a sandwich, then I called it a day. Yeah then I went home.

(Skip 38 minutes (I know, such a specific number ))

 I was just reading a book when I heard the front door open, walked in Chance and Mai. Oh great. I really don't want to see them make out. I wish Chance didn't have to date her in the first place.

"Oh hi.... again." Mai snickered.

I just rolled my eyes. Didn't have time to put up with her.

Chance left upstairs to I'm assuming to change out of his clothing, in which he looked very good in.

Once he was out of sight, Mai stood up and walked towards me.

"You like him, I know. I'm not stupid. But newsflash he's mine. And don't you dare think that you are going to get the way of my relationship with him. Got it?" And with that she sat right back down. And just in time because I heard Chance walking down the stairs.

"Woah Tess, you looked frazzled. What happened here? And close your mouth, you'll catch flies."

I quickly closed my mouth.

"Nothing happened. We were just talking. Right Tessa?"

"Right. I'm gonna head upstairs. You guys have a good night."

"It's only the afternoon, but whatever. See you later Tess."

With that I head upstairs still shocked and confused on what happened.

Nothing much, school has totally gotten the best of me.
