Chapter 6

Chance

I woke up this morning feeling like shit.

My parents are supposed to come over in like two hours so I have to warn Tessa.

Then I remembered the kiss.

How could I forget that I kissed her?

I had so many thoughts on my mind I didn't even realize. It just totally skipped my mind.

And now I'm thinking about the kiss. Great.

I go downstairs to the kitchen to get some medicine. I don't want to keep this cold. It doesn't matter today though because today is my free day.

My parents must be coming to tell me something very important than.

I was going to go back upstairs to check on Tessa but she come down a little later.

"Hey."

"Hey."

And until now I realize how awkward this may be to live with someone I barely know.

"So my parents are coming over in about 2 hours. I think it may be something important."

"Yep. I know the drill. I'll go hide when they come. What can I eat for breakfast?"

"Uh I have cereal."

"What kind?"

"Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Captain Crunch, Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Coco Puffs, you name it."

"Aren't you a cereal lover?"

"No not really. I don't have a chef or anything like that so I get the easiest things to make. If you want something else just ask, I can cook it for you."

"You can cook?"

I chuckled. "I have hidden talents know one knows about Tess."

I threw in Tess in there to see how'd she would react. She didn't seem to mind.

Then I had a question that has been bothering me since we met. Well actually two.

"Tess, can I ask you a question?"

"Go for it."

"Do you ever miss your mom? You haven't seen her in months and you seem OK, but you must at least had some type of relationship that you miss."

That must have been a question she wasn't thinking I was going to ask. I was going to ask about her dad, but that seems to been for another time.

"Of course I miss my mom. I love her. Still do. I want to go back, say hi, see how's she's doing. But I can never bring myself to do so."

"I'll take you when your ready. I mean if I can."

"When the time comes, I'll like that."

Tessa

Chance has been so sweet with me. I definitely going to like it here.

After the convo he's been sneezing and coughing like a lot. I don't know of he's sick or something but I won't get too close.

I was enjoying my cereal when Chance tell me something.

"Tess, my parents are coming over earlier then expected."

Did I mention that I love the nickname he gave me. I didn't react because I wanted to seem chill you know.

"How early?"

"Like 5 minutes away close. You should head upstairs."

I quickly went upstairs in the room I'm staying in.

Exactly 5 minutes later I hear his door open.

"Must be his parents." I whispered.

I was carefully listening to their conversation because they were right outside Chance's room.

And what they said shocked me shirtless.
