Edward POV

Bella kissed me, and I wrapped my arms around her petite body. She was 100 times stronger than me, but I was bigger than her. Ironic. "You should be running and screaming right now," she reminded me, kissing me more cautiously. I tried pulling her in for more, but she kept herself within her own boundaries. I didn't want to put her in pain, so I got up and said, "Let's go to school tomorrow and show Taylor and Mike that we are-"

"Idiots, for the most part," said Emmett, coming down the stairs. Bella giggled and threw a pillow at Em, who got hit in the head. "Oh, its on, little sister," he warned jokingly, but I stopped him. "Little sister? I thought she was changed before you," I said. "She was, but we were changed at different ages." Emmett sat down with us. "How old is everyone, in human years?" I asked.

"Esme is the oldest at age 26. Carlisle is a year younger at age 25 (not true, but I kinda changed the ages). I am 22, and Rosalie and Jasper are both 20. Alice was a week from her 19th birthday, and baby Bella here had been 17 for three months when she was turned. That's why we're so protective of her. She was the youngest, and even though she is strong, her body is the weakest because of its youth. Also, guys like to hit on her. Someone actually attempted to rape her, but she threw them off." I felt a growl escape me. Someone tried to rape my Bella? Emmett laughed. "I know how you feel, bro. I killed him for just touching my little sister," he assured me. Bella rolled her eyes.

"I can take care of myself, you know," she told us. Em laughed even harder. Bella threw another pillow at him. Emmett mockingly rolled on the floor. Bella sighed, but she was smiling. I scooped Bella up into my arms like a baby and kissed her, determined to stay kissing. But sure enough, Bella pushed away reluctantly, saying, "Careful, Edward." Em got up and went to find Rose. I let Bella down. "Charlie is going to worry about me. Can you come to my house? I want to introduce you as my girlfriend," I said. Bella seemed to listen, most likely for Carlisle's thoughts. Oh, right, The entire house could hear us. Dang. Then she eagerly nodded. "Course! Let's go," she shrieked, bouncing out. I laughed and followed the most wonderful girl to exist. I could not believe this exquisite creature was mine.

I drove Bella to my house in her Volvo, her grumbling about not even being able to drive her own car, but she wouldn't dare even think about using her vampire strength against me, the weak little human. Haha, I found the weak spot.

When we got into the house, Charlie was in the living room, watching a baseball game. Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds. If Charlie hadn't been chanting the Yankees every five second, I'd have thought he might've been wearing a foam finger. He turned around to say a quick hi, but then he turned the TV off immediately when he saw Bella.

Bella coughed to hide a snicker at his thoughts on her. Charlie's face turned bright red. "Dad, this is my girlfriend, Bella Cullen," I said. "Pleased to meet you, sir. Yanks winning?" Bella asked, cracking a smile. Charlie beamed because he'd always wanted someone to talk baseball with, but I never found interest in it. "Yeah. You a fan?" he replied. Bella nodded. "Call me Charlie, Bella," he told her. What??? No fair! I wasn't allowed to call hm Charlie, bu she could? Ugh. I dragged a grinning Bella upstairs. "No stealing my girlfriend, Dad!"

Once in my bedroom, Bella turned to me. "What is that awful wet dog smell?" she asked me. I sniffed the air, but smelt nothing except her lovely scent. Strawberries. I shrugged. "I don't smell it," I said. "Oh right. I keep forgetting how dull your human senses are," she said smugly. "Thanks so much, Bella," I said sarcastically. Just then, I heard a voice I recognized downstairs. My door opened, and Jacqueline stood there, her teeth bared at Bella.

"Get out of here, bloodsucker," she snarled. Bella took a step back, and I noticed why. Jacqueline was 5'11'', extremely tall for a girl, and Bella was so much smaller. "Don't hurt her, Jacqueline," I warned. "Edward, you barely know her! I know you, you were my best friend when we were little, all the way up until now, and you tell me to stop from protecting you from this parasite. You don't know what she is!" she said madly. Bella moved forward, angry now. "Don't you dare yell at my boyfriend!" Bella said defensively. "I know what she is. ANd I know what you are too," I told Jacqueline. Bella put me on her back and then we were out the open window. Jacqueline followed.

I scrambled to stay by Bella. "Get away, leech, or I'll crush you like a bug!" Jacqueline hissed. Bella growled back. "Not until you leave first, mutt!" I was shaking now, afraid for Bella. Jacqueline started to shake as well, and she phased into a huge wolf, three times the size of little Bella. Bella ran at her, determined to protect me. Jacqueline roared, and threw Bella to the ground, and before I could do anything to save my vampire girlfriend, Jacqueline bit her arm and ripped it off, also taking off her leg in the process, leaving Bella damaged and broken on the ground.

I took her into my arms, stroking her face. I yanked out my cell phone. I dialed Emmett's number. "Yo, wazzup Eddie?" Emmett answered. "Jacqueline s-s-she a-attacked Bella, and c-c-come q-quick, Bella's hurt. Bring the others," I stammered, pain pulling at my heart. I glared at the now human Jacqueline. She gave me an apologetic glance, and I might have thought she regretted what she did until she smirked at the unconscious Bella (I know, its not possible, but I want it to be) and ran inside. Anger bubbled up but I had to stay strong for Bella. Oh GOd, where were the Cullens?

Emmett POV

I snapped my phone shut. The dog better not have killed my baby sister. I told Rose, ALice, Jazz, Carlisle, and Esme what happened and we all sprinted off to the Masen residence.

When we got htere, Charlie, the mutt, and her father were watching the game, but I found Edward holding a crumpled Bella, her right arm and leg thrown a few yards away. I grabbed them and knelt beside my sister, whose head was cradled in Edward's lap. He caressed her cheeks. Carlisle got to work, the family spreading around us.

"We have to move her so Charlie won't notice. Rose, get her arm and leg. Edward, go inside. Tell your father you're going out. We're going to bring her to our house so I can use my equipment. Let's move," Carlisle instructed. Edward raced inside. Rosalie took Bella's arm and leg and Carlisle carried a limp Bella, who was damaged badly. I wanted to murder that Jacqueline for hurting her, but I had to be there for my sister.

We made it to the house right before Edward did. All anyone could think about was Bella as we darted upstairs, Edward trying to keep up. We brought Bella to Carlisle's office, where he laid Bella on a big table. "Will she be okay?" Edward asked, his face miserable. I realized how much he cared for Bella. "I don't know."

Esme was dry sobbing with Rose and Alice. Jasper had a very sad expression, and I was sure I had the same. But Carlisle was a miracle worker, he could fix her up, right?

"How is she asleep?" Rosalie wondered aloud. "The way her limbs were torn off made her able to fall asleep, but once they are reattached, she'll lose that ability," Carlisle explained. He took Bella's leg. "There is only one way to reattach her leg and arm and that is by stitching them on. With real stitches. But because her skin is so hard, I'll have to do it from the inside. Can I have some time to do this privately?" Carlisle begged, wanting his daughter to get better. We nodded and left him with Bella, Edward dragging his feet. "She'll get better, man. Don't worry. Bella's strong," I reassured him. But I knew she might not get better. Bella's body was younger than ours, so it could take less damge than ours. I remembered the way she looked when we first found her. She was thrown like a rag doll, crumpled, broken, battered, and hurt on Edward's lap. Bella looked so weak, so young, almost like a child as she slept. I shook those thoughts away.

"I hate that Jacqueline," Rosalie blurted. Everyone except Edward agreed. WHen stared at, he answered, "SHe's my best friend. I hate what she did to Bella, but I can't hate her. She was my rock when my friend Gale Steinberg died. She helped me get better from pneumonia. I can't hate her. I'm sorry." I clapped him on the back.

"I see your point, bro. But Bella was treated as though she were nothing by this Jacqueline. We are going to have to loathe her." I heard a scream from upstairs, and Edward and I both knew it came from Bella. This was probably why Carlisle ordered us out. He didn't want us to see Bella in pain. I was grateful. We all were.
