Eternity Is Mine

Chapter Twelve (Part Two)

Edward POV

I drove us to the Cullen house, as Charlie was out fishing for two weeks. He left, saying we could have privacy at home for break if we needed it.

Bella opened my door for me, and I laughed at how I towered over Bella. Bella noticed what I was laughing at, and she scowled in my direction.

We walked inside to see Esme with three trays of sandwiches. "Alice called and said you'd be hungry, since you didn't eat very much at lunch, Edward," Esme explained. I grinned at her, and Esme came over to Bella and swept her daughter up into a hug. "I've missed you, Bella," she murmured, leaning over and placing her head on Bella's.

I sat on the couch just as Carlisle walked in. "Why, hello Edward. Bella. Are you all packed for the next week?" I nodded. I bit into a BLT and sighed. Bella and Esme immediately left the room. Carlisle glanced back at the door they exited through and then sat down on the couch opposite me.

"Edward, my family and I have been thinking...would you like to become one of us someday?" Carlisle asked.

Emmett POV

Rose smiled at me, a warm, loving beam. She then turned back to the teacher who was writing on the board. My thoughts wandered to my baby sister.

I internally smiled. She was the perfect little sis someone could ask for. Ever since I was eleven, I've wanted a baby sister to protect and baby. That someone ended up being Bella. And now I have a little brother too. Edward. I mentally laughed at how tiny Bella was and how tall and muscular he was.

The bell rang and Rose and I glanced at each other before running at human speed out the door and out of the school. I pushed Rose against the wall and pressed my lips to hers.

It had suddenly turned into something more than a sweet little kiss. I let my tongue glide across her lips, asking for an entrance. She did as I wanted and I explored her mouth, tasting her sweet gingery breath. Then I stopped. Rose looked behind me and I turned. We gasped in unison. There stood a tall kid with red hair and brown eyes, his eyes lingering on Rosalie.

I growled and lunged at him. "Don't look at my girl again like that. I saw where you were looking. DOnt make me put your eyes somewhere you dont want them to be," I snarled. Rose pulled me back. I wrapped my arms around her waist and I glared back at the boy who was skittering away.

We got into the Jeep and pulled away. I was still shaking in anger, and Rose murmured soothing words to calm me down. We pulled into the driveway next to Alice's Porsche. I helped my beautiful wife out.

We strode inside to see Carlisle asking Edward a question. "Edward, my family and I have been thinking...would you like to become one of us someday?" Bella came flying out of the kitchen. "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"

Bella lunged for Carlisle, similar to the way I lunged at the boy before. They toppled over. I was immediately restraining her in a death grip. Edward looked shaken. I nodded to Rose, and she helped him upstairs.

Carlisle bent down to meet Bella's eye level. "Bella, it is his choice. Of course, you may have some input, but if he wants to become a vampire, then he can." Bella's eyes widened. "No! He has to live a normal, human life." "And when he grows old?" Carlisle asked. "Then I shall follow him after he passes," Bella answered simply.

"I need to leave," she said, suddenly squirming out of my hands. She bolted towards the door. I caught her and held her again. She groaned and I carried her upstairs to Alice and Jasper. Jasper took her into his arms and Alice started trying to convince her to let it go, and stay with us. What a fun day...*sigh*

Edward POV [again]

I sat in Bella's bedroom. I glanced around at all her CDs. Why didnt she want me to be a vampire?

Was it because she didnt want to spend forever with me? Was I not good enough? But I quickly erased that thought. I knew Bella loved me. If she didnt, why would she sacrifice her limbs for me, or spend all her time with me, or get jealous when girls flirted with me?

"Edward!" a voice said. Alice stood in the doorway, her hands on her hips. "I need you to talk to Bella and Carlisle, about...vampirism," she said. She smiled brightly at me before exiting.  

I nervously walked down the hall, thoughts racing through my head. Did I want to be a vampire? Or did I want to stay human?  

I opened the door to Carlisles study. Bella was held against the wall by Emmett, her eyes fiery as she glared at her father.  

"Oh Edward! Please take a seat and we can begin our meeting," Carlisle said, obviously happy to have me here. I guessed it was because he knew Bella wouldn't lunge at him if I was in the room. She wouldn't want to hurt me.  

"I was thinking that since you and Bella are very serious, maybe you'd want to join us in immortality. I would change you, AFTER YOUR GRADUATION." He said this, looking pointedly at Bella, who was struggling against Em's hand around her neck. I knew Emmett well, and I knew that he would never let harm come to Bella, but I still didnt like the fact that he was holding her three feet off the ground and not letting her move.  

"Carlisle I want to be a vampire. But I want Bella to be happy about it too. So let her down please, Emmett," I pleaded. Carlisle shook his head.  

"Bella feels very strongly about this particular subject and she's dangerously angry at me for suggesting this. She is usually a calm vampire but when it comes to this it's different. She will attack me and I don't want you getting hurt in the process. You think she'll be careful with you here, but she won't. It's not Bellas fault, but her vampire instincts are dominating her right now. Sorry Edward." I looked up at my tiny girlfriend, and her raging eyes softened when she saw me. "Bella, why don't you want me to be a vampire?" I asked.

   "Because I want you to live a happy, normal, human life. I won't damn you and make you a soulless monster like me," she hissed, her voice strained. "Edward, I suggest you don't push your luck. I cant hold her up much longer. Its hard for me to restrain her like this," Em said. "So would you like to be changed someday?" Carlisle asked me.

   Bella growled and bucked against Emmett's grip. "CARLISLE CULLEN, I'LL KILL YOU!!!" Bella screamed, her musical voice murderous as she broke out of Emmett's relaxed grip. I suddenly knew what Em had meant when he'd said that it was hard for him to hold her up. It wasn't that he lacked strength, because I knew he was much stronger than Bella. It was because he couldn't do something bad to his 'baby sister'. I had a whole new respect for Emmett. 

   Bella snarled in anger and pounced on Carlisle, whose face was covered in horror...and concern. He was concerned for his daughter. I watched in fear as she took Carlisle to the floor. Emmett was there, trying hard to fight his vampire instincts and not just bite Bella (which would cause her to be in the same three day state of unconscious agony as she was when changing into a vampire). He lifted her from Carlisle, and I rushed to help him up. He thanked me for the extremely unneccessary help and pushed me behind him as Emmett and Bella fought against each other. They moved like a tornado around the office. Carlisle opened the wide glass doors out to the balcony and they tumbled through it.

   "Why would you do that?" I asked him. "It won't hurt them. Remember, they're vampires, Edward. A lot of things that hurt your kind don't hurt ours," he explained kindly. Bella shrieked in pain as Emmett finally caved in and bit her. Then he backed up, horrified at what he'd done. 

   "Em, its fine. I just feel awful that she'll be in agony again. After what she's been through...I'd have gone to the Volturi by now." 

Soo it ended with a twist...and we never got Eddies answer. Damn. So i may change this, depending on the comments i get...(take that as a hint to comment!)
