As the voice beside me begged me to open my eyes, i struggled to. One simple request and i couldn't even manage that.
Damn.
I tried to move my left hand to let them know i was okay, that i could hear them.
It was like my body wasn't connected to my brain.
As a little child i suffered with claustrophobia. I hated confined spaces.I know what you're thinking now.
What does that have to do with anything.
Am i right?
Well, not being in control of my body and where it was freaked me out.
My body was small right?
A confined space?
My body was immobile and inside i was panicking like crazy.
"How long will she be like this?" I heard a female voice ask.
"Your daughter has been involved in a very serious accident. She has broken five ribs, cracked her collarbone, sprained her left wrist and sustained a blow to the head when she hit the floor. She has been in her coma for two days now, we will try and wake her up in a few hours," The man who must have been the doctor explained.
I was using all of my strength to make some kind of movement, any kind, to alert my mum that i was okay. I could hear the panic in her voice when she asked the question. She was drained and terrified. I was all she had left.
Didn't the doctor say i'd been out two days?
I knew for a fact that my mum wouldn't have had a blink of sleep, too scaed that she would miss any change in my condition if she dared to.
She's done it before afterall.
"Oh my god. Has she just moved?" My mum asked.
I felt a great sense of relief.
"No Mrs Evans," The doctor informed my mother. "She's still in a coma, its highly unlikely."
Damn you doc, listen to her.
"She moved, i'm sure of it," My mum said determinedly.
Yes , mum!
I moved my fingers again and again. My body began to feel less heavy and i could see the bright light through my closed eyelids. Suddenly with great strength, i managed to open my eyes.
I immedietly closed them again as i was blinded by the light above my head. I waited a moment or two before daring to open them again, to be met with my mums relieved ones.
"Oh my baby girl. How are you sweetheart?"
I was too exhausted to talk so i just nodded my head, wincing slightly at the pain that shot across my skull. Damn that driver sure as hell did a job on me, didnt he?
"Don't move Mads, talk quietly if you need to. You're still quite fragile," Mum told me, worry still etched upon her face.
"Ashton..." I managed to croak to her. My voice sounded and felt raw after not being used for days.
Somehow, mum managed to grasp what i was saying and her hopeful smile fell slightly. "I'm sorry Madison."
What did she mean, sorry? Where was Ashton? Didn't he forgive me the night of the dinner party?
"Where is he mum?" I blurted, my voice slowly regaining its normal sound.
Before answering my question, she found a loose thread in her sleeve extremely interesting. "He... um. Mads, he's not here. He hasn't been to the hospital at all. He told Kat that he didn't care and that he didn't want to know," Mum informed me regretfully.
