Dusk was approaching fast, and the peasant army anticipated their next move. First, they would sneak into the towns around the castle, and only send ten of their troops into the castle disguised as servants. Their plan completely succeeded though, and now we are at the scene where they try to bring Princess Ember out of the castle.

"I don't think I have ever met ye, servant." Princess Ember said. "What is thy name?"

"My name is Fenella. I am a new servant at the castle." a female servant informed the princess. "The gardens outside are especially lovely this evening, my lady. Would ye like to see them?"

Princess Ember smiled a knowing smile, and knew instantly that this was off. She then began thinking of a way to evade this trap. Suddenly guards came running from both ends of the corridor that they were standing in. Fenella smiled deviously, and said "Sorry princess."

Windows smashed above them, and glass rained down upon the hallway. Peasants jumped out of the second story windows above the hallway which Princess Ember was below, and they tried to capture her. Guards tried to fight them off, but the chaos was growing into mayhem. Crossbows flung arrows at the enemies, and peasants fell one by one. A guard aimed at a struggling peasant, and another slammed him against the wall, and his arrow went flying. The arrow seemed to travel in slow motion among the chaotic struggle against peasant and guard. Suddenly, one shriek, no, yelp of pain later everybody stopped and stared... at her.

    "No..." a few murmured.

Princess Ember stood shockingly still, and stared at nothing in particular. A arrow was lodged in her right shoulder, and she fell to her knees and landed against the floor. Several gasped, and a couple of the peasants tried to drag her away.

Something began to happen though, something unexpected. This is from Princess Embers point of view:

Princess Embers heart beat rapidly, and her breathing was shallow and fast. A low growl began to take form in her throat and it slowly got louder. Her body began to shift into a fox's, and her fox ears splayed back. When the peasants felt her hands shape shift into a foxes furry paws, they dropped them in surprise.

When they turned around they saw a stunning fox in such a defensive position they nearly shuddered.

Her hind legs were spread out and planted on the ground, and her forepaws were also spread out and planted on the ground. Her jaw was set, head lowered, and she was growling in such an intimidating way that it nearly scared them. Her ears were splayed back, and a scar traveled along her right shoulder. Guards rushed behind her and jumped over other bodies of peasants toward the others who tried to capture the princess. The guards shot them both dead on as they tried to run. The conspirators withdrew from the kingdom, and were later banished by the king himself.

The bodies of the peasants were eventually dragged out of the castle corridor, and taken away. The food situation was taken care of by having it exported from another country for the mean time. Now for Princess Ember and her family, it was a different matter of concern.
