Madame Quinn followed the servant down the hall, and into another large room with only two pieces of furniture, and a hearth with a crackling fire. The servant informed the Elder who was there, and left the Madame with the Elder.
"Child, come forth to us." She spoke in an aged voice. Madame Quinn approached her, and saw that there was only one chair, and a small stool. The Elder Jeanne stroked a cat's delicate fur, and requested that she have a seat. She situated herself on the very small, padded stool, and looked up to Jeanne. Even though the old woman was blind, she reached over to Madame Quinn's shoulder and laid a wrinkled hand upon it. She prayed a simple prayer to God, and blessed her.
Bits of Kingdom wisdom came from the sage, and Madame Quinn listened. Once they were done, Jeanne asked her to open the windows, and Quinn did so. She opened the first, then the second. Floods of light lit the dark room, and the Elder got up from her chair to approach a window. She looked over the gardens and moor through her imagination.
Neither of the women knew that the princess was watching them from a window in an upper hallway above the room, well except the Elder possibly.
"My child, when I look out this window, I see so much of God's creation. Every creature and plant was made by Him. Come forth and see." Jeanne requested. Madame Quinn did so, internally being grateful that she had the ability to see what she couldn't, even though that felt wrong to think. She looked over all the plants and animals and thought about what she heard.
"Do you really think that?" Quinn inquired.
"No, I believe it with all my heart. I have always found my joy, hope, love, and comfort in the Lord." Jeanne replied.
"We do also." Madame Quinn replied.
"I am getting tired, my child. You may leave my presence." the Elder Jeanne dismissed. "I hope ye take what I said seriously my dear."
"I shall try." Quinn replied.
As Madame Quinn exited the room, a fox darted away and down the corridor, leaving the slightest of scratch marks on the marble flooring in her wake to escape.
