"King's mother?"
"I'm going to get close. I hope you've already made up your mind," Creston said instead. He stood from the chair, walked beside it, and then made his way towards Lucky. He'd never had a human girl. He could never make something as complex as a human. When he had his power back, they would be the first to go.
"What are you doing?" Lucky stammered. Her eyes got wide as he got close and grabbed her wrists in his hands. She could feel his heavy body pushing her onto the bed, and for a moment, her heart skipped. His hair fell over his eyes like King's. His chest was just as rocky, but his eyes were still different. "I said what are you doing!"
"Waste not," Creston said. He placed his lips on hers, invading her mouth with a kiss. It was entirely different from Leona's kiss—a kiss that no amount of power would bring back. "My son has different tastes."
"Get off of me or so help me, I'll kill you," Lucky seethed as soon as her mouth was free.
"It was just a kiss," Creston smiled with King's smile, "and besides, I'd like to see you try."
Lucky bit her lip. Was she really strong enough—really skilled enough to kill King's father? He looked so much like him. Could she even try? King'd asked her, a final request, to give the power over to him, but how could she? How could she just give it back for him to hurt King even more. He'd changed him. Creston obviously needed that power to finalize King's mark, and she couldn't just hand that over—not even if it meant her death. She couldn't let that happen to King.
"Where is King?" Lucky asked instead.
"Outside," Creston said with a sigh as he folded his arms and used Lucky for a pillow. He laid on top of her—staring down into her silver eyes and thinking.
"If you didn't want King to be half mortal, then why did you choose his mother?" Lucky stammered. Maybe she could buy some sort of time. It was worth a shot, even if it meant she had to endure his body on top of hers. He was sculpted, heavy, and warm in the icy room. The way his black bangs fell across his eyes as he stared down at her just made her that much more uncomfortable. He shouldn't look so much like King.
"I had intended to keep his mother," Creston sighed.
"H-his mother?"
"Leona," he whispered her name, "the only woman I ever loved. I gave her my power, and she turned her will against me. Said I'd changed."
"Do you still love her?" Lucky asked with a red face.
"I loved her," Creston said. "As you're now aware, she is dead. King took her life...to save yours. That's why I'm so interested in finding out why."
Lucky's mouth closed tight again. She wasn't sure she'd ever even heard King talk of his mother, either.
"So," Lucky finally whispered, "you must hate King if he really killed the woman you love."
"Oh," Creston shrugged, "on the contrary. I sort of...forced his hand on the matter. I guess you could blame his mother's death on me, if it made the two of you feel any better."
"Didn't you love her?"
"Of course I did," Creston said, and his voice fell flatter. "She lost her love for me, had the audacity to give my power away to a human, but the time has come for me to gather my power back."
"Kill me?" Lucky said with a weakened voice.
"Yes," Creston said. "You and any other world I want to destroy. I've been contemplating doing away with The Kingdom and Earth completely. Too many mortals there. Why do you look so shocked? You're not laying beneath a man, Lucky. You're laying beneath a god."
